Job Description: Instructor, CosmetologyDepartment: Health & Public ServicesReports To: Dean of Health & Public ServicesPay Classification: FacultyFLSA Status: ExemptJob Summary: The Cosmetology Instructor is responsible for the overall administration, instruction, and effectiveness of the Cosmetology program. Oversees program planning, development, and continuous improvement while delivering high-quality instruction. Prepares and disseminates program information and reports, including annual program reviews and planning for future program growth.Minimum RequiredEducation: Associate degreeCurrent TDLR-issued Cosmetology Operator and Instructor LicenseMinimum RequiredExperience: Teaching experience in higher education within the instructional area, preferred.Core Duties andRequired Knowledge: Develops, implements, and evaluates cosmetology curriculum to ensure alignment with industry standards and institutional goals.Plans, schedules, and deliver classroom and laboratory instruction in cosmetology courses.Maintains current course materials, syllabi, and instructional resources.Applies knowledge of state regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, including ACGM, WECM, and GIPWE guidelines.Assists in developing and managing program budgets in coordination with the Dean.Prepares and provides program reports, including annual reviews and planning documentation.Utilizes instructional technologies and learning management systems to support teaching and student engagement.Maintains knowledge of Hill College mission, vision, and Code of Conduct, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.Strategic Vision andProgram Development: Supports the development, growth, and continuous improvement of the cosmetology program.Assists in formulating and recommending policies related to instructional program development and expansion.Identifies opportunities for program enhancement based on industry trends and student needs.Contributes to long-term and short-term planning efforts aligned with institutional goals and objectives.Collaboration: Works closely with faculty and administration to develop and revise curriculum and instructional materials.Serves as a resource to faculty and staff regarding instructional and curricular matters.Participates in institutional meetings, committees, and program-related activities.Communicates effectively with students, faculty, and staff to support student success and program effectiveness.Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all.Demonstrated Attributes: Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.Ability to lead, influence decisions, and manage change.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student success.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Other Information: Serves on faculty and standing committees as requested.Travel between campuses as needed.Must maintain a valid Texas driver's license.Security sensitive position.Physical Requirements: Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
