Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.\n\nWe started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nWork one‑on‑one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused reading and writing instruction at their level.\n\nHelp students develop deeper comprehension, critical thinking, and written expression, not just complete assignments.\n\nBuild reading fluency, vocabulary, and a genuine connection to reading.\n\nStrengthen writing mechanics, structure, and voice across genres.\n\nIdentify and close gaps in foundational literacy skills that are holding students back.\n\nAlign your sessions with each student’s broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM’s planning tools.\n\nCommunicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.\n\nMaintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nWe are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.\n\nStrong candidates typically have:\n\n3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in reading, writing, or English Language Arts.\n\nDeep expertise in at least one of the reading or writing levels listed above.\n\nExperience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre‑AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.\n\nA track record of helping students improve reading levels, write with more clarity and confidence, or master skills they previously struggled with.\n\nClear, patient communication and the ability to make reading and writing feel accessible to students who think they’re \"not a reader\" or \"not a good writer\".\n\nProfessional reliability.\n\nBonus: current or former ELA teachers, published writers or journalists who tutor, educators with degrees in English, education, or literacy, tutors with dyslexia or reading intervention training, college essay coaches with admissions results.\n\nWhy Tutors Join SiSTEM\n\nYou set your own rates.
