VectorUSA is seeking a highly motivated, charismatic, and technically adept Pre-Sales Engineer, Physical Security (Video Surveillance/Access Control) to support our nationwide sales team from our Torrance, CA office. This role serves as the critical bridge between Sales, Engineering, and our clients—translating business needs into well-defined, scalable technology solutions.The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to confidently engage with clients, uncover requirements, and guide solution development. This individual will play a key role in shaping solutions for Physical Security Systems and IT Network Infrastructure, while ensuring all technical and business requirements are clearly documented for engineering and estimation teams.This role requires the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling way, as well as strong technical writing skills to produce detailed scopes, requirements, and documentation that enable accurate bill of materials (BOM) development and final proposal creation.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a primary technical liaison between Sales, clients, and internal Engineering/Estimation teamsLead and participate in client-facing discovery sessions, workshops, and site walks to understand business objectives and technical requirementsTranslate client needs into conceptual solutions and high-level architectures for physical security and network infrastructureCollaborate with Sales to position solutions effectively, including technical presentations and client consultationsReview RFPs, RFQs, SOWs, and design documents to develop aligned solution strategiesProduce clear, detailed technical documentation, including:Solution narrativesScopes of workAssumptions and clarificationsDesign intent documentation for engineering teamsWork closely with Estimators and Engineers to ensure all requirements are accurately translated into BOMs and formal proposalsInterface with manufacturers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to validate solution design and pricing approachesSupport the development of conceptual drawings and system designs using tools such as Bluebeam or IPVMEnsure solutions are scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with client business outcomesParticipate in internal solution reviews, proposal reviews, and project handoff meetingsProvide technical guidance during project kickoff and support teams during execution as neededRequired Qualifications8+ years of experience in pre-sales, solution engineering, estimation, or system design within IT infrastructure and/or physical securityStrong background in video surveillance, access control, and supporting network infrastructureSolid understanding of:Network switching, routing, and wireless connectivityServer and cloud-based infrastructurePhysical layer infrastructure (fiber, copper, pathways)Proven ability to engage directly with clients, lead discussions, and translate business needs into technical solutionsExceptional technical writing skills with the ability to clearly document requirements for engineering and estimation teamsAbility to interpret and respond to RFPs, construction drawings, and technical specificationsStrong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsHigh attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookPreferred ExperienceExperience with physical security platforms such as Verkada, Brivo, Hanwha, Axis, Avigilon, Hirsch, MilestoneFamiliarity with Aruba and Cisco networking platformsExperience designing or supporting integrated security and network solutionsExperience with wireless backhaul and remote connectivity solutionsBackground in server-based video management systems (VMS)Previous field, installation, or project delivery experienceFamiliarity with structured cabling systems and infrastructure designPreferred CertificationsRCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)CCNA, Aruba, or similar networking certificationsManufacturer certifications in physical security or networking technologiesAdditional InformationLocal travel to client sites will be requiredBenefitsCompetitive salary starting at: $135,000/year (DOE)Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchOngoing education and certification supportPaid time off and holidaysVectorUSA is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled.
