Position Title: Garage MechanicLocation: Service CenterSalary: per LCL 1968 bargaining agreementTerm of Employment: 12 month positionReporting Relationships: Reports to Supervisor of TransportationQualificationsVocational/automotive trainingMinimum of five (5) years' experience as a journeyman preferred in all phases of automotive maintenance and repairCertified inspection licenseCurrent CDL with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements.Knowledge of alternate fuelsKnowledge of fuel injection systemsSmall engine repair experience helpfulBasic computer data entry and retrieval requiredEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesExamples of work performed might include; but not limited to:Maintain, lubricate, repair, and overhaul fleet equipment. Diesel, propane, electric and gasoline internal combustion engines to insure efficient operating condition.Operate the various types of garage equipment for moving and testing automotive machineryRead and interpret automotive/mechanical equipment manuals and schematicsPerform related garage mechanic work as may be assignedSelect proper tools, determine materials to be used, accomplish work in accordance with appropriate methods and accepted trade and/or industrial practicesPerform minor body workEvaluation: Conducted annuallyThis list intended to be illustrative rather than complete and serves to show major duties and responsibilities and does not express or imply that these are the only duties performed by the incumbent in this position.
