Second Shift Tooling Technician

TITLE: Tooling Technician REPORTS TO: Tooling Area SupervisorResponsibilitiesRespond promptly and safely to production demands to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.Assist setup technicians with die setups as needed.Read and interpret work instructions, including QEI’s, special lot requirements, and AVO’s.Collaborate with Engineering and Scheduling teams to keep production on track and ensure tooling functionality (slides, safety sensors, pin checks, etc.).Perform die cleaning and preparation when production stops (completed schedule, out of cores, job on stop, etc.) to ensure readiness for the next production job.Identify, tag, and document tooling requiring repair, maintenance, stop orders, or further review.Communicate tooling issues and repair needs to the Tooling Supervisor, Tooling Lead, and/or Tooling Manager.Assist in training machine operators on proper tooling maintenance, cleaning procedures, and required intervals at the press.Ensure compliance with management directives and operational priorities.Inspect outgoing parts/patterns to verify conformance with QEI standards.Monitor and enforce safety protocols and 6S standards within the wax injection area.Maintain accurate tooling records using Gage Track, including check-in/check-out and history updates.Take apart, clean, inspect, and reassemble dies, performing minor troubleshooting and repairs needed. Principal Area of Responsibility: Support the injection department in maintaining optimal product quality and efficient operations. Collaborate closely with injection management, the tooling team, and engineering to minimize machine downtime, ensure tooling readiness, and keep production running on schedule.QualificationsWorking knowledge of the wax injection process is a plus.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to perform effectively in a high-demand and technical environment.Manufacturing experience is preferred.Physical And Mental DemandsAbility to lift, move, and handle materials and injection tooling safely.Capable of standing and working on feet for extended periods of time.Basic understanding of injection press operations and technical functions.Strong organizational and time management skills.Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset.Ability to communicate effectively with management, team members, and both internal and foundry engineering teams.
