Monroe Community CollegePosition Title: Adjunct Faculty, Italian Language - Monroe Community CollegeLocation:Rochester, NYCategoryAdjunctJob TypePart TimePosted OnTue May 19 2026Job Description:Function of Position:Adjunct faculty prepare and teach Italian courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned for the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, extension site, or an online, remote, or hybrid modality, as needed. Day or evening classes may be assigned. Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson of the World Languages and Cultures Department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:Teaches courses and evaluates student performance in Italian per guidelines set by the department and Monroe Community CollegeActs as liaison and mentor to instructors teaching college-level dual enrollment courses to high school studentsPrepares lesson plans and creates instructional materials and activities for student engagementMaintains student attendance records, grades, and other materials according to department and College guidelinesDevelops innovative teaching pedagogies to facilitate learningActively engages in pedagogical and academic discipline professional developmentPerforms other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair, as appropriateMCC Expectations:Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.Commits to professional growth. which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.Job Requirements:Job Requirements:Required QualificationsEarned master's degree or higher in Italian or a closely related field from a regionally accredited higher education institutionBilingual and able to read, write, and speak Italian proficientlyAvailability to teach and work during the dayEvidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community collegeEvidence of proficiency with technologyExperience and/or interest in developing and teaching online coursesPreferred Qualifications:At least two years of teaching experience in Italian as a second languageKnowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategiesAwareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teachingExperience with computerized student record managementAdditional Information:Pay Rate for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,217- $1,484 per contact hour.Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications.
