TeacherPOSITION TITLE: Business Education Teacher .33 FTEGENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:Reports to: Building PrincipalFLSA Status: ExemptTerm of Employment: Contractual YearBASIC FUNCTIONS:This position requires a certified teacher for the purpose of teaching skills needed for success in the world of work and business management, marketing, financial services, and entrepreneurship to students at the intermediate and/or high school level.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Possess all requirements for teaching business educationCreate a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudesHas working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students' learning styles and needsUpdate the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Business Management, Marketing, Financial Services, and EntrepreneurshipEstablishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their familiesProvide appropriate instruction for students to earn dual credits with post-secondary institutions when appropriateCreates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skillsTeaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solvingManage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student populationIntegrate common core standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculumParticipates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional developmentDemonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programsCollaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resourcesRegularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessmentCollaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the studentsSPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION:Minimum qualifications:* Must hold a valid Indiana Business Education license or a CTE: Business* Knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office Professional Software and other current technologies used in business educationWorking Relationships:Working Conditions:Mental demands: (the following are examples) calculating, comparing, problem-solving, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting.Physical Demands: (the following are examples) sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, adjusting, connecting; lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.; bending, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, balancing, writing, walking, and operating equipment.Environmental Conditions: (the following are examples) mostly inside but can be exposed to extreme weather conditions if traveling, wet and/or slippery surfaces, exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, biological exposure, exposure to communicable diseases, working around moving objects, and working aloneMust hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive to meetings or work sites before, during, or after the normal working day.
