Through our Disaster Response Program, HHI delivers medical aid, supplies, and skilled volunteers to communities impacted by natural disasters and crises—both in the United States and around the world.Position SummaryHeart to Heart International is building a roster of contract-based photographers and videographers to support rapid disaster response deployments. These professionals play a critical role in documenting the impact of disasters and HHI's humanitarian response efforts in real time.Selected individuals will be placed on a standby roster and contacted when deployment needs arise. When activated, photographers/videographers may deploy alongside Disaster Assessment Teams or Medical/Operations Disaster Response Teams to capture compelling visual storytelling from the field.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Capture high-quality photos and video documenting disaster impact and response effortso Disaster destruction and affected environmentso Distribution of hygiene kits and humanitarian aido Emergency Medical Team and Mobile Medical Vehicles in action (setup, patient care, team coordination)o Survivor stories (with consent)o Interviews with volunteers, partners, and HHI staffo Provide written captions, context, and metadata for all submitted contento Obtain and manage signed photo/video releases from all identifiable subjectso Capture specific requested content for donor communications and storytellingo Take headshots of each Disaster Response team member and group photos of deployed teamsCollaborate with HHI Marketing & Communications team on pre-deployment shot lists and daily prioritiesDeliver edited and captioned visual content to HHI headquarters daily (same day or within 24 hours)Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and ethical storytelling standards in all environmentsQualificationsPrior professional experience in photography and/or videography requiredStrong technical skills in capturing high-quality visual content in dynamic environmentsAbility to deploy domestically and/or internationally with as little as 48 hours' noticeAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines (often same day turnaround)Experience uploading and transferring large media files in low-resource environmentsStrong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage respectfully with disaster-affected populationsWillingness and ability to interview subjects to gather accurate caption detailsExperience with social media platforms and storytelling preferredDisaster Response storytelling experience is a plusVideo editing skills are a plusTraining & OnboardingSelected roster members must complete:HHI's onboarding requirements – background check, drug screen, and complete interviewsHHI's just-in-time Disaster Response training provided at time of deploymentPre-deployment documentationCountry specific vaccination requirementsValid passport with an expiration date no less than 1 year of contract.Additional InformationThis is a contract-based, on-call role with no guarantee of deploymentRoster members will be contacted based on response needs and alignment with required skillsCompensation will be determined on a per-deployment basis and agreed upon in advanceApplicants are applying to join a standby roster, not for immediate placementSupplying a portfolio is a plusBy submitting your application, you will maintain a professional profile with HHI, ensuring your information is current and readily available for rapid deployment consideration.
