Provides support for plant operations by working with control board operators and instrument maintenance. Stewards alarm management program to support safe and effective plant operations. Develops and maintains accurate and clear documentation on control schemes and programs.\nJob Duties:\nTroubleshoot and maintain DCS (Honeywell TDC 3000 & Experion) including control schemes, graphics, and tags.\nProvide daily control systems support to assigned operating units.\nInterface with operations and process engineering groups.\nDevelop and implement process control schemes and control techniques.\nAnalyze, diagnose, and resolve controller performance issues including PID loop tuning.\nPerform alarm reviews with operations to support corporate alarm rationalization program.\nSupport project engineers with project funding, execution, and control scheme development.\nMaintain and support advanced process control program and communicate performance to process engineering and operations.\nDevelop and maintain control related documentation.\nWork with instrumentation maintenance personnel to troubleshoot plant issues.\nEffectively presents information and respond to questions from operations, maintenance personnel, and management.\nSolve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization of solutions exists.\nActively participates in maintaining a safe work environment.\nSupport occasional weekend callout and turnaround coverage.\nCompetencies:\nSkill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nAbility to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.\nAbility to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.\nAbility to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.\nAbility to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.\nAbility to cross train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.\nAbility to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.\nAbility to multitask and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.\nBasic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).\nThis position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.\nThe salary range for this position is $127,000 to $175,000 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.\nQualifications\nAble and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Benicia Refinery, required.\nBachelor’s or higher level degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.\n5 years of engineering experience in a petroleum refinery required.\nProcess engineering experience preferred.\nProcess control and/or control systems engineering experience required, including 2 years of DCS control experience preferred.\nPosition level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.\nAll successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
