{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"eb91bea14f123dcc6e97105f","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/eb91bea14f123dcc6e97105f","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/eb91bea14f123dcc6e97105f","title":"Shuttle Driver","description":"Shuttle Driver Requisition Number: 2026S048Posting Full Time/Part Time: Part Time Division: Dean of the College Department: Transportation Department Wage/Salary Range: $22.50-$23.50 / hour Department Statement: Colgate provides a free shuttle service around Hamilton and the university campus, open to students and the public.\r\nAccountabilities:Drive and operate a shuttle, bus, or van to safely and courteously transport passengers around campus and throughout the Village of Hamilton.\r\nAdhere to all local, state, and federal traffic regulations while following and enforcing safety procedures.\r\nFollow emergency procedures, including for mechanical failures, accidents, and medical emergencies.\r\nOperate vehicles while adhering to University policies and procedures.\r\nConduct vehicle inspections as required by department policy and DOT regulations.\r\nOperate vehicle communication systems within the guidelines of University policies.\r\nComply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles.\r\nClean and fuel shuttle, bus, or van as part of daily duties and as directed by the supervisor.\r\nMaintain scheduled routes to establish time and mileage. Immediately notify the supervisor of changes/delays.\r\nRecord and report incidents/problems through appropriate procedures established by the department, including accidents and mechanical concerns.\r\nProvide information to students, faculty, and staff members regarding the shuttle service program.\r\nAttend all required University, federal, and state regulatory in-service trainings and meetings.\r\nMaintain CDL and all applicable certifications and endorsements (including regular physicals, recertification training, and examinations).\r\nMay occasionally take on dual roles, which include driving the bus/shuttle and handling dispatch duties, such as answering phones and coordinating schedules, as needed to support departmental requirements.\r\nAdditional opportunities may include outings and on-demand trips outside of shuttle hours, providing transportation to and from (including but not limited to) the Utica and Syracuse bus and train stations, as well as Syracuse airport.\r\nOther job-related duties as as assigned\r\nProfessional Experience/QualificationsMust meet 19-A qualifications.\r\nMust submit and pass a DOT physical examination.\r\nMust have at least three years of driving experience.\r\nEmployment is contingent upon completing a thorough background check, including employment history and a criminal record check.\r\nPre-employment and continued random drug screening will be required.\r\nMust complete recertification requirements as needed.\r\nPreferred QualificationsExcellent customer service and communication skills.\r\nFamiliarity with two-way radio communications.\r\nBasic computer skills.\r\nSchedule flexibility and ability to work various events during evenings, weekends, and holidays.\r\nEducation Other Information This position is deemed essential under the University’s Essential Personnel Policy.
