As a Rubber Chemist, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing rubber compounds for various applications, ensuring the highest quality and performance standards are met.\n\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and test new products and materials to meet product performance requirements and expectations. This includes working with custom rubber compounders to execute toll manufacturing of rubber formulations.\nDevelop test specifications, procedures, and objectives to assist in developing new products and compounds.\nSet up and conduct tests on new innovations to assure results meet expectations.\nCollect and analyze data from testing, and report on findings with conclusions and recommendations.\nParticipate in product design reviews and provide knowledgeable recommendations when required.\nAssist in developing project plans, budgets, and time lines in support of new programs.\nMonitor and report on performance to project plans and budgets.\nContinually review laboratory methods, processes and equipment for suitability. Prepare recommendations for changes or improvements as appropriate.\nDevelop/improve data collection systems and statistical analysis.\nAssist in quality improvement projects as needed to address internal or external complaints.\nSome travel may be required in performing the above duties.\n\nRequired skills and qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field. Those without a degree that have an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.\nThe successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years relevant experience.\nTechnical skills: Expertise in rubber/polymer chemistry, compounding, and processing technologies. Prior experience working with nitrile and EPDM rubber is highly desired. Prior experience with mill mixing and internal mixing is highly desired.\nAnalytical abilities: Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nAttention to detail: Meticulous record-keeping and the ability to follow processes accurately.\nCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and teamwork.\nTeamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams.\nDemonstrated ability to acquire and utilize technical skills to penetrate issues and solve them to root cause.\nPersonal commitment to safety and environmental compliance.\nFamiliarity with industry regulatory statutes is preferred but not required.
