DutiesStrive to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learnMaintains confidentialityPlans and writes an individualized education program which meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each student using computer softwareEmploys instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectivesCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students across varied age rangesGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and-in harmony with the goals-establish clear objectives for all lessons, units; projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to studentsAssesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as requiredMonitors student progress on a scheduled time frameDemonstrates knowledge of the Common Core/Early Learning and Development StandardsConsults and plans educational experiences with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basisInvolves parents in the planning process for each child's educational program through periodic parent conferences, including home visitationAssists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerPlans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with the supervisor, evaluates their job performanceStrives to maintain and improve professional competenceAttends meetings, in-service programs and serves on staff committees as requiredUtilize technology in the educational settingAble to utilize non-violent crisis physical intervention using a team conceptDesign and define rubrics for units of studyWhen appropriate and consistent with District policies and the student's IEP, uses physical holds or physical restraints to prevent students from harming themselves or others.Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the PrincipalQualificationsProfessional Educator License as set by state certification authorities and the action of the Joint Agreement governing authorities.
