Minimum Qualifications The level of experience to perform this job at the Transportation Generalist Senior level can be achieved with: Two years of experience performing carpentry OR concrete OR iron work OR a combination of one or more of these activities. Educational Substitution: A two-year technical trades training or degree (e.g., carpentry, concrete /masonry, etc.) or equivalent may be substituted for one year of experience.( In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience, you must submit a copy of your transcript. ) Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records. A valid Driver's License with the ability to upgrade to a Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and no airbrake restriction within 6 months from dates of hire. MnDOT will provide on the job training to obtain a Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restrictions. NHI Course: Introduction to Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, (Bridge Safety Inspection 1) within 1 year of hire or placement. The level of experience to perform this job at the Transportation Generalist level can be achieved with: One year of experience performing carpentry OR concrete OR iron work OR a combination of one or more of these activities. Preferred Qualifications Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist. Valid Class A MN Driver's License with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction. Physical Requirements The physical demands of this job will vary, but typically requires lifting up to 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects and/or tools weighing 50-pounds. This job also may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. This job will require strenuous manual labor including but not limited to digging, shoveling, hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling and climbing.
