The Component Engineer works closely with Hardware Engineering, FPGA Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Management, and key suppliers to ensure products remain manufacturable, supportable, and compliant throughout their lifecycle.\nThe ideal candidate understands both the technical and business implications of component selection and can proactively identify risks before they impact programs, production schedules, or customers.\nKey Responsibilities\nComponent Lifecycle Management\nOwn lifecycle management of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical components used across all product lines.\nMonitor component health using lifecycle and market intelligence tools.\nEvaluate Product Change Notifications (PCNs), Product Discontinuance Notices (PDNs), and End-of-Life (EOL) notifications.\nDevelop mitigation plans for obsolete, sole-source, and high-risk components.\nLead Last Time Buy (LTB) analyses and recommendations.\nDMSMS & Sustainment Engineering\nEstablish and maintain a formal DMSMS program supporting defense and long-life products.\nAssess component risks across active production and sustainment programs.\nDevelop technology insertion, redesign, and alternate sourcing strategies.\nSupport sustainment planning for products with service lives extending beyond commercial component availability.\nCoordinate with customers and program teams on obsolescence-related issues and mitigation plans.\nNew Product Development Support\nParticipate in architecture reviews and hardware design reviews to ensure component decisions support long-term availability and supportability.\nAssist design engineers in selecting components that balance performance, lifecycle, cost, and supply chain resilience.\nPromote standardization and reuse of components across product families.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce BOM complexity and supply chain risk.\nSupplier & Supply Chain Collaboration\nServe as the primary engineering interface for component-related supplier issues.\nWork closely with Procurement and Operations to address shortages, allocations, and sourcing challenges.\nEvaluate alternate manufacturers and second-source opportunities.\nSupport supplier qualification activities and technical discussions.\nProduct Compliance & Risk Management\nSupport compliance activities related to:\n- RoHS\n- REACH\n- Conflict Minerals\n- DFARS requirements\n- Counterfeit Parts Prevention\nMaintain component documentation and traceability records.\nSupport AS9100 processes related to component control and risk management.\nEngineering Operations Support\nSupport Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to component changes and obsolescence mitigation.\nProvide component-related risk assessments to engineering leadership and program teams.\nDevelop metrics and reporting related to component health, obsolescence exposure, and lifecycle risk.\nSupport root cause investigations involving field returns and manufacturing issues when component-related causes are suspected.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.\n5+ years of experience in component engineering, hardware engineering, reliability engineering, sustainment engineering, or DMSMS management.\nExperience working with:\n- Electronic components\n- Embedded computing hardware\n- FPGA-based systems\n- Graphics processing hardware\n- High-reliability electronic systems\nStrong understanding of component lifecycles and supply chain dynamics.\nExperience evaluating PCNs, EOL notifications, and alternate component solutions.\nStrong analytical and risk management skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams.\nU.S. Citizenship required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting defense, aerospace, or ruggedized electronics products.\nExperience with NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Microchip, Xilinx/AMD, or similar semiconductor ecosystems.\nFamiliarity with:\no SiliconExpert\no Z2Data\no Microsoft Dynamics GP\nExperience supporting military programs and government customers.\nKnowledge of:\no DMSMS best practices\no Counterfeit avoidance programs\no AS9100 environments\nExperience supporting products with 10+ year service life requirements.\nPay: $90,000.00 -
