Estimator PositionKraemer North America is currently looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team in our Mountain West Region – CO area. This position is based in our Castle Rock, CO office.The Estimator analyzes plans, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services; and applies knowledge of specialized techniques, principles, or processes. Focus on producing reliable estimates based on historical costs and best information available. Participates in vendor solicitation process, analyzes and selects quality suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the successful completion of projects. Continually monitors and assists in the progress of projects. Responsible for timely and accurate bid submittals. Maintains positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to promote Kraemer and help gain competitive advantage in assigned market.We value our people. We work safely. We recognize that our people are our greatest strength, and we're proud to employ some of the most talented professionals in the construction industry.ResponsibilitiesPerforms quantity takeoffsCompletes pricing of workVendor solicitation and DBE complianceAnalyzes subcontract quotes and prepares bid documents, order bondsPerforms various administrative duties, including job set-ups after awardMarkets and reviews trade publications for upcoming workAnalyzes and understands project requirements and risksCompares projects to similar projects previously completed by KNA to determine estimated costsCommunicates project requirements to and coordinates involvement of subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, regional managers, etc.Interprets project plans and specificationsPrepares and oversees pre-bid schedulePrepares turnover documentConducts historical cost analysisEnsures compliance with KNA Safety and Quality ProgramsAssists in identifying market opportunities for assigned region by establishing and maintaining effective contact with owners, subs, suppliers, consultants, and potential clientsProvides leadership of the "Safe Production" cultureMonitors projects, comparing budgets to actualQualificationsTechnical school degree plus five years previous successful heavy civil estimating experienceExperience with construction and/or estimating of bridges is preferredKnowledge of construction methods and equipment used in heavy civil constructionKnowledge of regional suppliers, subcontractors, and specification requirementsAbility to read and understand project plans and specificationsComputer literacy required; ability to prepare spreadsheets and databasesExperience with HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, or other estimating software.
