You will work directly with machinists, planning, and quality to keep close-tolerance aerospace work moving.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nProgram 3-axis, 3+2 positional, and true simultaneous 5-axis milling operations in Mastercam for vertical and horizontal machining centers.\nWork directly from customer-supplied 3D CAD models — import, investigate, and verify solid and surface geometry, and build toolpaths that hold the model to print requirements.\nBuild accurate 3D models in Mastercam from customer-supplied 2D machined-part drawings when no model is provided, and program from those models.\nReview and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, parts lists, and customer specifications to identify every required feature, tolerance, and finish before programming.\nDevelop and modify existing CNC programs, post-process, verify, and prove out programs at the machine to produce a good First Article part.\nDesign and specify workholding, fixtures, and tooling; select cutters, holders, speeds, and feeds appropriate to close-tolerance aerospace alloys.\nCreate shop aid sketches and setup sheets for roughing, finishing, and second operations.\nSupport machinists hands-on at the machine — loading and validating programs, tooling, part holding, and correcting program or tooling problems as they arise.\nProvide machining time estimates for setup and per-part run time on new and repeat work in support of planning and quoting.\nRecommend process improvements: better part holding, tooling strategy, and machining sequences to improve cycle time, tool life, and part quality.\nMaintain and organize the 3D model library, CNC program library, sketches, and tooling records under revision control and in compliance with customer and company procedures.\nEnforce and follow company standard operating procedures for file naming, file storage, and revision control across all models, Mastercam files, and programs.\nManage backup of machine NC code, ensuring current proven programs are captured, correctly named, stored in the proper location, and recoverable.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMinimum five (5) years of hands-on experience programming CNC mills in a precision machining environment.\nDemonstrated proficiency with Mastercam — you must be able to build a program from scratch, not simply edit existing ones.\nProven simultaneous 5-axis and 3+2 milling programming experience on vertical and horizontal machining centers.\nHands-on machinist experience running and setting up mills. We want a programmer who has actually cut parts and understands how a part is held, cut, and how it moves in process.\nAbility to program directly from customer-supplied 3D CAD models, including imported STEP, IGES, Parasolid, CATIA, and SOLIDWORKS geometry.\nAbility to create 3D models in Mastercam from 2D machined-part drawings then to program from those models.\nStrong working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret ANSI/ASME Y14.5 engineering drawings.\nExperience with close-tolerance precision machining of aerospace-grade metals — aluminum, stainless, titanium, and high-temperature and heat-treated alloys.\nWorking knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, speeds, and feeds for aircraft alloys and hardened materials.\nWorking knowledge of G code and common controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mazatrol, with the ability to edit at the machine.\nExperience working with Mastercam post processors (\"posts\") — selecting the correct post for a given machine and control, verifying posted output, and troubleshooting or requesting post corrections when the NC code does not match machine requirements.\nExperience designing tooling and holding fixtures for machined parts.\nAbility to communicate clearly and constructively with machinists and production staff, give instructions, and mentor in a team environment.\nBasic computer proficiency: email, MS Excel logs, network file management, and PDF handling.\nFunctional English — able to speak, read, and write English well enough to interpret drawings, specifications, and written procedures and to document work clearly.\nU.S. Citizen or U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62) — required for access to controlled technical data on U.S. Government defense contracts.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience in an AS9100-certified aerospace or defense machine shop.\nSOLIDWORKS or CATIA modeling experience, including creating internal drawings and shop aids and converting CATIA files to IGES or STEP.\nCNC lathe programming experience, including multi-spindle and live tooling.
