{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"eb50f9a266b2d61df5177de1","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/eb50f9a266b2d61df5177de1","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/eb50f9a266b2d61df5177de1","title":"Network Engineer","description":"ActioNet is an IT service provider and solutions integrator headquartered in Vienna, VA that works with the Federal Government and Department of Defense.\n\nActioNet is seeking a Network Engineer to join an integrated team of Federal Employees and Contractors providing IT Infrastructure and IT Support Services to research teams and crews operating research vessels, particularly when vessels are in port or docked.\n\nLocation: Silver Spring, MD\nWork Schedule: Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week onsite\n\nSalary: Up to $140,000\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\nOpportunity to advance climate research efforts by providing and supporting enabling Information Technology.\nJoin a dynamic team actively engaged in modernizing IT capabilities.\nWork in an environment undergoing a network modernization initiative, including the transition from Cisco to Fortinet technologies.\nProfessional growth opportunities with competitive salary and benefits.\nJoin an organization consistently recognized as one of the best places to work.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nAssist in designing, implementing, and managing WAN infrastructure and related processes.\nProvide production support for network infrastructure, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.\nProvide second-level problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution for network-related issues.\nConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware and software in accordance with approved designs and implementation plans.\nSupport the transition and modernization of network infrastructure, including the customer's migration from Cisco to Fortinet technologies.\nAssist with the configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of Fortinet network and security solutions.\nSupport the dispatch and coordination of circuit and hardware vendors involved in problem resolution.\nSupport escalation activities and communicate network status and issues to agency management and internal customers.\nAssist senior Network Engineers in developing and implementing new network solutions.\nAssist Systems Engineers with implementation activities, providing \"smart hands and eyes and ears\" for remote team members.\nSchedule, install, configure, and test system software and hardware in environments with limited network connectivity.\nTroubleshoot and resolve technical problems involving network hardware, software, connectivity, and related infrastructure.\nMonitor and maintain network licenses, subscriptions, warranties, and maintenance agreements.\nSupport network operations in LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, and other communications environments.\nDocument network configurations, troubleshooting activities, and implemented solutions.\nBasic Qualifications\n4+ years of experience supporting the installation, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise-wide WAN and LAN environments.\nHands-on experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and commonly used network protocols.\nExperience with network hardware, communications protocols, and network architectures.\nFortinet experience strongly preferred, particularly candidates who have supported or participated in a Cisco-to-Fortinet migration or network modernization effort.\nDemonstrated understanding of commonly used network protocols and proven experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting network infrastructure.\nTraining and/or certifications in ITIL, vendor-specific networking technologies, CompTIA, or similar areas.\nBachelor's degree in IT or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.\nQualified candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications\nHands-on experience with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate firewalls and related Fortinet security/networking solutions.\nExperience supporting Cisco-to-Fortinet migrations, upgrades, or replacement initiatives.\nFortinet certifications such as:\nFortinet Certified Professional (FCP)\nFortinet Certified Solution Specialist (FCSS)\nAdditional networking/security certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, CASP+, CISSP, or equivalent.\n\nActioNet is a CMMI-DEV Level 4, CMMI-SVC Level 4, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, HDI-certified, woman-owned IT Solutions Provider with strong qualifications and expertise in Agile Software Engineering, Cloud Solutions, Cyber Security and IT Managed Services.
