The Assistant Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the building including mechanical operation, cleaning, maintaining grounds, community education activities, special events, managing energy use, security, safety, and other functions as assigned.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES\nCustomer Support\n\nAssist in the implementation and follow through of cleaning programs developed through workflow analysis\n\nAssist building administrators and other support staff in scheduling special events, setting up for these events, and other special tasks as assigned by building administrator\n\nCollaborate with teachers and support personnel for assisting in the mission of the school district\n\nAssist in the implementation and follow through on performance evaluations\n\nSupervise Custodial staff and interact with district resources (carpenters, grounds personnel) to take care of building and grounds\n\nDirect Service\n\nDirect daily cleaning activities of custodians; work with teachers and other staff in moving furniture and delivering supplies\n\nPerforms maintenance repair on plumbing, heating and electrical equipment\n\nPerforms preventative maintenance on building equipment by checking and changing fluids, belts, chemicals, lights and filters\n\nMaintains grounds by cutting, trimming, shoveling and blowing snow from walkways\n\nCleans and maintains cafeteria equipment\n\nMaintains building security\n\nCleaning up body fluids and secretions in all areas of school\n\nResponsible for fire protection and fire alarm bells\n\nResponsible for clocks and bells and maintain time scheduler\n\nAdministrative Support\n\nPerform record keeping regarding boilers and mechanical systems\n\nMonitor supplies and reorder appropriate amount of supplies from approved vendors as needed\n\nCoordinate contractor personnel in upkeep of building structure, electrical, mechanical, and other building systems\n\nAdhere to federal, state and District data privacy regarding employee information and contractor pricing\n\nStands ready to respond to calls 24 hrs/day on equipment failure or for security reasons\n\nOther duties as assigned\n\nWORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n\nContinuous standing and walking\n\nFrequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, sitting, walking, standing, hearing, talking, and seeing\n\nFrequent lifting and/or moving of equipment, supplies and furniture\n\nOccasionally lifting up to 50 pounds\n\nFrequent pushing and pulling\n\nWork with various chemicals and follow Material Safety Data Sheet\n\nWork with personal protective equipment in dealing with body fluids\n\nWorking outside during inclement weather\n\nLICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION DEFINITIONS\n\nSpecial License: Employee must pass the State license examination\n\nSecond Class: Employee must have a Special License and work under a First Class operator, or higher, for at least one year\n\nFirst Class: Employee must have a Second Class license, or higher, and work under a First Class operator for an additional two years\n\nChief's License: Employee must have a First Class license, or higher, and work under a Chief operator for an additional two years\n\nCertified Pool Operator: Employee must complete 16 hours of training every five years; the cost of training and certification shall be paid by the School District\n\nBENEFITS\nWe offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week*.
