Heavy Civil / Highway Sr. Superintendent

Draper, UtahFull TimeThe Sr. Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field leadership of heavy civil/highway construction operations.This role ensures that field activities:Meet safety standardsFollow project specificationsStay on budget and on scheduleMaintain high-quality workmanshipAre coordinated efficiently across crews and subcontractorsProjects include roadway construction, dirt excavation, utility installation, grading, structures, and large-scale infrastructure.Essential ResponsibilitiesSafety & ComplianceUnderstand, enforce, and execute all Safety PoliciesCreate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for assigned tasksConduct safety inspections and ensure proper documentationComply with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental regulationsEnsure all required inspections, quality testing, and compliance steps are properly scheduled and documentedField Operations & SchedulingSchedule and order materials, equipment, inspections, and workforceEnsure project progresses according to schedule, specifications, and production goalsDirectly supervise field crews (dirt, pipe, structures) to ensure quality workmanshipConduct regular site walks to track progress and identify field needsCoordination & CommunicationConfer with subcontractors, crew leads, and project personnelInterpret specifications and plans to prevent construction delaysCoordinate multiple phases of construction efficientlyCommunicate project status to the project management teamLeadership & Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManage Forepersons and craft personnel assigned to the projectResponsibilities include:Training employeesPlanning and directing workAddressing concerns and resolving problemsEnsuring compliance with company policies and lawsRequired QualificationsTo succeed in this role, candidates must meet all of the following:Minimum 5 years earthwork and roadway superintendent or foreperson experience leading heavy equipment crews (grader, track hoe, loader, backhoe, dirt/pipe crews)Minimum 10 years experience in ALL phases of roadway construction, including:Dirt excavationGradingUnderground utilitiesMinimum 10 years reading blueprints and specifications for roadway/earthwork projectsMust pass driver's license and criminal background checkSkills and Certifications: Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.Skills & Technical CompetenciesStrong understanding of heavy civil construction methodsAbility to lead crews in a fast-paced, dynamic field environmentStrong communication and conflict resolution skillsAbility to manage multiple field operations simultaneouslyStrong scheduling and documentation capabilitiesAbility to travel occasionally to project sitesSkill Matrix Template - Full Name:Highest Degree (Field, University & Completion Year):Total Years of Heavy Civil/Highway Construction Experience:Do you have at least 5 years of Superintendent or Foreperson experience leading heavy equipment crews?Do you have at least 10 years of experience in roadway construction (dirt excavation, grading, utilities)?Do you have at least 10 years of blueprint and specification reading experience for roadway/earthwork projects?Do you have experience supervising forepersons and craft personnel (dirt, pipe, structure crews)?Do you have experience scheduling materials, equipment, and workforce for project deadlines?Do you have experience enforcing safety policies, performing safety inspections, and completing Job Hazard Analyses?Do you have experience with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental compliance?Do you have experience responding to RFIs, coordinating subcontractors, and managing field documentation?Do you have experience managing day-to-day field operations and communicating with project management teams?Are you able to travel occasionally as required?Are you able to pass a driver's license and background check?Motivation for Interest in This Position:Contact Number:Email ID:LinkedIn Profile URL:Full Address (Street, City, State, Zip):Notice Period (in weeks):Current Work Authorization Status (US Citizen, Green Card, H1B, etc.):Expected Salary:Are you ready to relocate on your own expenses and work onsite in Draper, Utah?
