You will bring our platform to the next level with the goal of building a highly scalable platform.\nYour responsibilities will include working with an engineering team to design, build, modernize and maintain our resident platform. You will integrate with various third party partners to enhance our platform and provide game changing products to our Resident offering. You will analyze the impact of proposed architectural changes and work with other teams across AppFolio’s entire suite of products.\nThis is an ideal opportunity for someone who has a passion for building leading-edge software and is driven to help build a successful SaaS product used by thousands of happy businesses. We foster an environment that empowers small teams to collaboratively set the technical direction of our solutions.\nYour Impact\nDevelop scalable and robust Resident flows and user interface that simplifies our customers flows while reducing friction.\nCollaborate with a strong cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and operations stakeholders to build a highly reliable and accurate, world class platform.\nResearch, share and recommend new technologies and trends that will help modernize our code base and infrastructure.\nUse test-driven development, code reviews, and continuous integration to deliver high-quality software, and rapidly fix bugs as they come up.\nWork closely with, and incorporate feedback from other engineering team members, QA, and product owners.\nLeverage agile practices in start-up mode, encourage collaboration, prioritization, and urgency to develop at a rapid pace.\nQualifications\nYou love learning about new technologies but understand the value of simplicity and priority.\nYou care about the long-term maintainability of the codebase and will learn to advocate for refactoring and clean-ups where appropriate.\nYou care about work-life balance and want your company to care about it, too; you'll put in the extra hour when needed but won't let it become a habit.\nCreativity, ability to solve complex problems without a roadmap.\nProven experience working across all levels of the development stack.\nStrong familiarity with Agile software development processes: Scrum or Kanban.\nStrong familiarity with test-driven development.\nMust have\nBS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (Bootcamp graduates are welcome as well)\n5+ years of hands-on work experience (outside of internships and education) developing web-based applications, preferably in a SaaS environment\nExperience working in APIs, databases, and other web and cloud technologies\nExcellent experience working across all levels of the development stack\nStrong familiarity with Agile software development processes: Scrum or Kanban\nNice to have\nExperience building Mobile first applications\nRecent experience with some areas of our tech like Ruby on Rails, React native, Expo, GraphQL\nExperience deploying machine learning models at scale\nCompensation & Benefits\nThe base salary that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $135,000-$188,000\nThe actual base salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.\nPlease note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package.
