This role serves as the technical program owner for Windows OS integration , ensuring on‑time, high‑quality software releases across engineering, ODM partners, factory operations, and sustaining teams.\n\nThe Software System engineer represents Windows OS, drivers, HP Applications, and validation within the system team and is accountable for schedule execution, issue resolution, and release readiness throughout product lifecycles.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nWindows Refresh Program Ownership\n\nOwn Windows OS readiness for desktop workstation refresh programs, from early bring‑up through RTM and factory release.\n\nDrive end‑to‑end Windows image, driver, application, recovery, and firmware enablement across HP engineering teams and ODM partners.\n\nDefine and manage Windows scope, milestones, and dependencies aligned to system refresh schedule.\n\nCross‑Functional Technical Interaction\n\nServe as the Windows representative on the refresh team coordinating with:\n\nProgram management\n\nOS Engineering (Windows)\n\nBIOS/FW teams\n\nValidation and Quality\n\nFactory, PIN, and Supply Chain\n\nODM program management and engineering teams\n\nLead technical alignment and decision‑making across stakeholders to resolve integration gaps and risks on refresh programs.\n\nIssue Management & Escalation\n\nOwn Windows‑related issue resolution/triage, prioritization, tracking, and closure for refresh.\n\nHost and drive tiger teams for critical, blocking, aging, or bounce issues.\n\nRelease & RTM Execution\n\nEnsure completion of Windows validation and readiness for:\n\nImage RTM/Release\n\nWeb packages and Windows Update readiness\n\nFactory and recovery media enablement\n\nDrive Windows RTM communications and ensure downstream alignment across HP.com, factory, and service channels.\n\nODM & Factory Enablement\n\nWrites and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application.\n\nCoordinate closely with ODM SEPMs to ensure Windows deliverables meet HP quality and schedule targets.\n\nSupport production line issues and field escalations related to Windows software.\n\nStatus, Communication & Reporting\n\nConsolidate and communicate Windows program status to refresh program management.\n\nMaintain clear visibility of risks, dependencies, and recovery plans.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nFour-year Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other Engineering related discipline.\n\nTypically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nDesktop or workstation platform experience.\n\nAbility to read, understand, and write simple Windows scripts.\n\nRisk management, communication, and presentation skills.\n\nSuccess Indicators\n\nOn‑time Windows RTM aligned with refresh schedule.\n\nReduced late‑stage integration risk and escalations.\n\nClear ownership and accountability across HP and ODM teams.\n\nPredictable, well‑communicated Windows software readiness for refresh platforms.\n\nThe pay range for this role is $65,600 to $101,000 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only).
