The Principal is available to the Project Engineer for advising, training, brainstorming on projects, and assistance with anything outside of projects. The Principal will assign projects, but the Project Engineer is responsible for managing each project, delegating work to Project Engineers or Interns as appropriate, and ensuring all deliverables are checked for quality and approved by the Principal before leaving the office.\nThe Project Engineer is expected to assist with the development of project proposals as requested by the Principal. As part of the proposal writing process, the Project Engineer will identify project tasks and estimate the hours needed to complete these tasks. They will write a detailed project scope for inclusion in the proposal. When managing projects, the Project Engineer is responsible for managing the tasks of the project, the people of the project, and the overall communication between employees, clients, and the Principal Engineer. The Project Engineer’s role in managing projects includes, but is not limited to, the following:\nObtain familiarity with each project’s background, location, existing issues, and politics.\nIdentify the right staff for each part of the project and assign tasks.\nManage people while they perform the assigned tasks.\nSet milestone dates for project tasks that meet the deadline provided in the scope.\nProvide the role of “Checker” as part of the Qualify Control Program.\nProvide project updates both internal and external.\nUpdate the project budget for monthly invoicing.\nEvaluate the status of each project versus the work completed.\nBring to the attention of the Project Manager any evidence of budget slips, scope creep, or scheduling issues.\nMaintain project change and issue logs.\nKey Software Microsoft Office Suite\nAutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation\nSLAMM/Recarga\nHydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD, Inroads, or other hydrologic modeling software\nHEC‑RAS, HSPF, or other hydraulic modeling software\nOther software as it becomes available or necessary\nQualifications The Project Engineer has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental or biological systems engineering, or another relevant subject.\nMinimum of 1+ year of experience with strong engineering knowledge in the following areas:\nDrainage Systems\nWater Quality Devices\nDetention Ponds\nHydraulic Analysis\nFDM Design Standards\nWisDOT PS&E Processes\nActive & current PE license through any state, preferred PE license in good standing.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills.\nLocation Madison, WI\nEmployment Type Full‑Time, Exempt\nEEO Statement AQUALIS Stormwater Management is strongly committed to providing a work environment that is free from all forms of harassment, discrimination and inequality.
