This role is responsible for developing scalable network layouts, defining routing strategies, and ensuring designs align with construction standards, municipal requirements, and long-term expansion goals. The ideal candidate brings strong OSP planning experience, technical expertise in fiber network design, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support efficient and cost-effective builds.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nNetwork Architecture & Planning\r\nDesign and develop OSP network architectures (fiber and copper) including backbone, distribution, and access networks.\r\nCreate high-level and detailed network designs supporting FTTH, FTTx, HFC, and wireless backhaul infrastructure.\r\nPerform capacity planning and long-range network growth modeling.\r\nEstablish network standards, route diversity strategies, redundancy plans, and resiliency frameworks.\r\nDevelop splice matrices, fiber allocation plans, and cable routing strategies.\r\nProject Planning & Financial Analysis\r\nPartner with finance to provide BOM and BOQ data for cost analysis.\r\nGIS & Documentation\r\nDesign and manage Network Architecture in Company dedicated GIS software program and ensure network record accuracy.\r\nMaintain documentation standards for fiber counts that are spare and dark for future growth and network management\r\nStakeholder Collaboration\r\nWork closely with construction teams to resolve field design challenges.\r\nCoordinate with permitting department for challenging paths that will need additional required documents to construct.\r\nProvide technical leadership to engineers and construction.\r\nRisk Management & Optimization\r\nIdentify single points of failure and design mitigation strategies.\r\nDevelop disaster recovery and network restoration planning guidelines.\r\nContinuously evaluate network performance and recommend infrastructure upgrades.\r\nQualifications\r\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Construction Management, or related field preferred.\r\n7+ years of experience in OSP fiber planning, network design, or telecommunications infrastructure.\r\nStrong knowledge of fiber optic network design, splicing principles including Db loss calculations and construction methodology.\r\nExperience with FTTX applications such as GPON, XGS-PON and architecture for central or cascaded splits.\r\nProficiency with GIS platforms and OSP design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, IQGeo, 3-GIS, VETRO or similar).\r\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\r\nExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.\r\nAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.\r\nNote\r\nWecom (and its subsidiaries) complies with all Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
