About Family Health ProjectFamily Health Project (FHP) is dedicated to creating equity for new moms and babies at one of the most crucial moments in their lives. Our mission is simple yet transformative: to support new mothers and their infants facing deep poverty by providing $400 per month for 36 months, without condition. FHP launched in 2021 with two direct-giving pilot programs in partnership with Lynn Community Health Center in Lynn and Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury. Since then, 30 mothers have successfully completed the program. In the coming months, 60 first-time mothers will receive consistent monthly support, including 20 participating through a third partner, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center. This steady growth reflects both the ongoing need for support during early parenthood and the strength of the model itself. Results have been meaningful: reduced stress, improved family stability, and healthier beginnings for families during a critical stage of life. Position Overview: Director of DevelopmentThe Director of Development serves as the lead fundraising professional for the organization and is responsible for designing, implementing, and advancing strategies that strengthen philanthropic support and deepen donor engagement. Primary responsibilities include growing and strengthening the organization’s major gifts program through thoughtful donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship management, while also expanding and enhancing annual giving efforts to increase donor participation, retention, and philanthropic investment over time. The Director of Development serves as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, engaging board members in fundraising and supporting governance-related development initiatives. This individual will also broaden the scope and impact of the organization’s Advisory Board.We seek an energetic, engaging, mission-driven development professional with 8-10 years of successful fundraising experience and an eagerness for relationship building to help drive the next phase of our growth and expand the reach and impact of our work.The ideal candidate will bring a passion for maternal and child health, health equity, and economic support for families, along with a demonstrated track record of building and scaling philanthropic revenue.Working closely with the President, the Director of Development will lead and execute a fundraising strategy spanning individual giving, major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, and special events. The Director will help build a sustainable culture of philanthropy, while strengthening donor engagement, operational excellence, and long-term organizational growth.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising strategies with clear revenue goals, metrics, and accountability.Grow, cultivate, solicit, and steward a diversified portfolio of donors and philanthropic partners.Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.Meet prospective donors on a continual basis; deepen engagement with current donors.Assist with foundation and grant fundraising, as managed by FHP’s Grants Manager.Maintain positive community relations through attendance at in person and virtual eventsPartner with program, finance, and communications teams to develop compelling cases for support and communicate the impact of Family Health Project’s work on mothers and children.Strengthen development operations, including CRM management, donor data integrity, gift processing, reporting, and fundraising analytics.Manage, mentor, and inspire a small development team while engaging Board members and volunteers in fundraising activities.Help elevate Family Health Project’s visibility and reputation among philanthropic, healthcare, and community stakeholders.Qualifications:Alignment with Family Health Project mission and values8–10 years of progressive fundraising experience and a proven track record of impactStrategic, highly organized leader who can translate vision into actionable plans and consistently execute against goals and deadlines.Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to engage diverse audiences authentically and effectively.Strong writer with experience crafting compelling donor communications and cases for support.Experience with fundraising CRMs and development systems such as Bloomerang or similar.Flexibility and comfort in a rapidly changing environmentSkilled in relationship building and maintaining positive community relationsPassion for public health, social justice and advocacy for underserved populations.Self-motivated, collaborative, and energized building and growing mission-driven organizationsPosition Type/Schedule/Location:This remote role offers flexible hours, competitive salary, an engaged and engaging board and advisors, and plenty of room for a self-starter to thrive.
