Prototype & Integration Engineer Intern

SummaryThe Prototype and Integration Engineer Intern is a hands-on role designed to reinforce concepts learned through the student’s academic coursework using intentional, hands-on work objectives. This role also targets projects that expose and prepare the student for upcoming classes by providing real-world engineering experience in a production-oriented environment.The intern will work closely with experienced engineers and their mentor to support the design, integration, and testing of prototype and production-level systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable facing new challenges, enjoys learning through experimentation, and embraces solving problems across hardware, software, and electrical domains.Note: “Technology” as used in this role, includes hardware (PCs, touchscreens, peripherals, components), software (operating systems such as Windows, Android, and Linux; applications; systems; data; and tools), and electrical systems (power supplies, electrical components, electrical distribution, wiring, safety, and both low- and high-voltage systems).Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist with schematic design and documentation at both system and circuit levelsPerform power analysis across AC and DC electrical systemsSupport the design and development of robust, production-level systemsUse laboratory equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering stations, and related toolsAssist with microcontroller firmware development, flashing, and debuggingSupport IoT development using Node.js and/or PythonParticipate in system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and validation activitiesDocument designs, test procedures, and results to support development and knowledge transferCollaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challengesOther duties may be assigned at any timeInterns will gain experience with:3D Printing Product development processes with a focus on quality managementHands on building of prototypesIntegration of hardware and softwareMethodical and effective troubleshooting of complex systemsEducation And/or ExperiencePursuing a degree in an Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related degree program.Experience with microcontrollers or embedded systemsExposure to firmware development and debugging toolsBasic programming experience with Node.js, C++, Python, or similar languagesFamiliarity with power systems, AC/DC analysis, or electrical safety conceptsFundamental understanding of electrical circuits and electronic componentsOther QualificationsFamiliarity with basic lab equipment and safe laboratory practicesWillingness to learn new technologies and take on unfamiliar challengesStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
