Substitute Food Service Assistant

Job DescriptionPosition Title: Food Service AssistantDepartment: Food and NutritionReports to: Food Service Manager and School Nutrition DirectorPosition Summary: The Food Assistant assists in the preparation and delivering of meals to Glynn County Schools students, maintains a clean kitchen, and performs other food service duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred Physical ActivityAbility to repetitively lift items weighing a maximum of 50 poundsWalk and stand on cement floor for an extended period of timeClimb ladder, stoop, bend, lift and have hands in waterAbility to work extended periods in various temperaturesAbility to tolerate work conditions while cooking, steaming, baking, etc.Ability to tolerate a noisy work environmentOperate kitchen equipmentKnowledgeCommunicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers, and administratorsWorks with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when neededPrevious food preparation and food service experience preferredAbility to understand and follow directionsManages time efficientlyCapable of performing basic math and uses production recordsDuties And ResponsibilitiesAttends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficientlyExhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the School Board, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the publicAssists in ensuring compliance of the school nutrition program with Federal and State regulations, State and local health requirements and school system policiesAble to follow recipes and cooking instructions to ensure food is safely prepared and of good quality.Assures proper portion control and appealing presentation of foodFollows money handling procedures and all food safety practicesCleans and sanitizes dishes, equipment, and work areasWorks with energy manager to reduce energy and water usage in all school cafeteriasUtilizes and stores cleaning chemicals (solutions, aerosols, powders, etc.) according to manufacturer’s directions and local codesPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisor.Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.WORK DAYS: 186COMPENSATION RANGE: $9,177 - $13,793*Salary is commensurate with experience and length of workday.This document provides information about the above Glynn County Schools position.
