{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"ea497968e3e030d77e9e405a","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/ea497968e3e030d77e9e405a","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/ea497968e3e030d77e9e405a","title":"Junior Electrical Engineer","description":"Electrical Engineer I – Substation Engineering & Design\n*Region:* Rural San Joaquin Region\n*Location:* California\n*Duration:* 18 Months\n*Rate:* $30–$37/hr on W2\n*Schedule:* Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM\n*Hybrid:* Onsite Wednesday & Thursday\n\nJob Summary\n\nWe are seeking a *Electrical Engineer I* with strong electrical engineering, design, and project coordination experience to support substation engineering projects in the *Rural San Joaquin Region*.\n\nSubstation experience is strongly preferred; however, candidates with strong transferable electrical design experience may also be considered.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n* Develop preliminary scope of work for engineering projects.\n* Conduct and document *pre-engineering field/job walk meetings*.\n* Work with Construction, Maintenance, Operations, Field Engineering, Testing, IT/Telecom, and other stakeholders.\n* Prepare engineering specifications, meeting minutes, drawings, and design documentation.\n* Develop and update *AutoCAD electrical drawings*.\n* Provide technical engineering and design support to project teams.\n* Coordinate engineering contractors, schedules, deliverables, and project costs.\n* Review contractor proposals, purchase orders, change orders, and service requests.\n* Provide technical support to field personnel and project stakeholders.\n* Support operational, reliability, emergent, and compliance-related engineering activities.\n* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers.\n* Support a strong safety-conscious work environment.\n* Travel to substations for field job walks, typically *1–2 times per month*, with frequency dependent on project needs.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n* Bachelor's degree in *Electrical Engineering* or another relevant technical/engineering discipline.\n* *2+ years of applicable engineering experience*.\n* Strong electrical design experience.\n* *AutoCAD experience*.\n* Knowledge of electrical engineering and power systems.\n* Experience with electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, conduit, grounding, or related design work.\n* Strong written and verbal communication skills.\n* Strong organization and technical documentation skills.\n* Ability to coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, contractors, and field teams.\n* Willingness to travel to project sites/substations as needed.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n* *5+ years of engineering experience*.\n* Substation engineering/design experience.\n* Experience with *4kV–500kV* power utility substations.\n* Project management or project coordination experience.\n* Power engineering experience.\n* Conduit and grounding design experience.\n* Experience with Bluebeam, Design Manager, Ariba, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\n* 3D design/modeling experience is a plus but *not required*.\n* California *PE license is preferred but not required*.\n\nExperience with *electrical design, conduit design, grounding design, one-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, and power engineering concepts* is highly relevant.\n\nLocation Requirements\n\n* Candidates should be *local to the Rural San Joaquin Region*.\n* Out-of-state candidates should not be submitted unless relocation is completed or will align with onboarding requirements.\n* Candidates must be able to work onsite *Wednesday and Thursday*.\n* Candidates must be comfortable visiting substations and participating in field job walks.\n\nInterview Process\n\n* Initial virtual interview\n* Final in-person interview/site visit\n\n*Ideal Candidate:* Experienced Electrical Engineer with strong electrical design and AutoCAD skills, project coordination experience, and preferably substation/utility experience.
