SummaryWorks with the head coach in the supervision and development of an intercollegiate varsity team, including in-season and off-season programming, in accordance with institutional and departmental objectives within the rules and regulations of the athletic governing bodiesEssential Job FunctionsWorks with the head coach to oversee practices and scheduled contests to provide a positive and competitive experience for student athletes; in absence of the head coach the assistant coach assumes full responsibility for the teamWorks with the head coach to develop a recruitment plan to identify and enroll student athletes that will create and sustain a successful, competitive athletic programWorks with the head coach to establish team rules and protocols and implements appropriatelyWorks with the head coach to foster the personal development and competitive spirit of the student athletes while supporting their educational experienceWorks with the head coach to emphasize and promote academic progress, resulting in strong academic performance, retention and graduation ratesAttends recruitment trips as needed to recruit student athletes to develop a successful, competitive athletic programWorks with the head coach to supervise the team at all off campus competitions. Interprets and implements the rules and regulations of the team, the department, and the universityProvides recommendations to the head coach on team line up's and game strategyRepresents the university and team at all appropriate athletic events (e.g. competitions, conferences, and university sanctioned programs)Works with head coach to oversee fundraising activities to provide funds for team expenses, such as traveling and team apparelSupervises and develops the department staff, as necessary, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsMinimum of an associate's degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the positionModerate amount of experience with athletic coaching, collegial playing or other related experienceValid U.S. driver's licenseFirst Aid, CPR, AED certification, or willingness to attain such certification(s) upon hirePreferred QualificationsFamiliar with NCAA rules & regulationsExperience coaching and/or competitive experience in soccerExperience recruiting collegiate athletesExperience as a goalkeeper coachPlease NoteQualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until job posting is closed.Johnson & Wales University is an equal opportunity employer.
