School Psychologist

Job Title: School PsychologistPrimary PurposePerform professional psychological work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of students referred to special education services.QualificationsEducation/Certification:Master's degree in psychology from accredited college or universityValid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) or TraineeSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposesKnowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventionsKnowledge of psycho-social developmentExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience Experience working in public school settings (preferred)Major Responsibilities And DutiesAssessment and EvaluationConduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations of students referred for special education services.Interpret assessment results and communicate findings through clear, legally compliant written reports.Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and provide input on eligibility and services.Consultation and CollaborationConsult with teachers, parents, administrators, and other professionals to enhance student learning and implementation of educational plansAssist school staff with behavior management strategies and classroom interventions.Provide input on functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).Intervention and Counseling Provide individual or group counseling for students as needed.Support crisis response efforts, including suicide risk assessments and postvention services.Collaborate with outside agencies and mental health providers as appropriate.Compliance and Documentation Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.Adhere to timelines for evaluations and ARD processes.Stay current on changes in special education law and best practices in psychological services.Consideration will be given to School Psychologist Intern
