As a Frontend Software Engineer, you craft self-contained, reusable, task-focused components, and approach UI development with a balance of speed, quality, and empathy for the end user. While your focus is on the front end, your grasp of the entire stack is strong enough to contribute ideas, spot architectural tradeoffs, and help shape how our Navigator platform is designed end to end. You care deeply about Developer Experience, have a strong command of RESTful APIs and testing frameworks, and bring a strong sense of agency to improving code, tooling, and documentation.\nWhat You'll Do\nContribute to our Navigator Vue-based frontend application\nBuild robust visual components and page layouts that integrate seamlessly with documented API endpoints\nModularize and improve our visual design library, which contains shared primitives, css tokens, icon assets\nSupport offline Progressive Web App mode for Disconnected Operations\nHelp define best practices, continuously improve CI/CD workflows, while keeping DX at the forefront!\nCraft a rock solid User Experience\nHelp us shape a beautiful, high-powered UI while keeping real-world usability and performance constraints in mind\nMaintain CI/CD pipeline, and check in well-tested, production-ready code\nEnsure our Navigator app provides a consistent, reliable experience on both Desktop and iPad\nCollaborate and align with cross-functional teammates\nWork closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams on rapid feature buildouts\nConsistently seek balance between shipping UX feature within scope while aiming for “pixel-perfect” mockup renditions\nWhat We’re Looking For\nGreat problem solver\nFamiliarity with HTTP request codes\nAPI request testing experience with tools such as Postman or Insomnia\nTroubleshoot CORS issues\nGreat communicator\nAbility to reach across discipline boundaries to help troubleshoot and test newly added API endpoints\nClear and concise communication, whether it’s writing technical documentation or recording a weekly demo of recent work (a Gallatin tradition)\nGrowth mindset\nAlways seeing to learn and stay current with industry trends and tools\nFamiliarity with RESTful APIs, and high uptime / low latency web applications\nExperience with frontend testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Vitest)\nBonus Points\nExperience mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.\nFamiliarity with legacy systems and working with public sector customers\nComfortable setting up CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows\nContributions to open-source projects\nWhy Gallatin?\nJoin a mission-driven, high-impact, and fast-moving startup where your work directly improves defense logistics readiness for the warfighters of the United States and allied forces.\nWork alongside a team of passionate engineers, designers, and industry experts.\nCompetitive compensation incl. generous options grant, 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums, 401k, opportunities for rapid career growth, unlimited PTO, free lunches and snacks in the office.\nThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances.
