The successful candidate will manage project delivery from planning through commissioning, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality and regulatory standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, proven substation project management experience, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead project delivery for electrical construction projects, including substation design-build and construction, from initiation through closeout.\nDevelop, maintain and drive project schedules and budgets; forecast costs and manage project cash flow to achieve financial targets.\nOversee procurement, contractor selection, subcontractor management, and vendor relations; negotiate contracts and manage change orders.\nProvide technical oversight for electrical and substation construction activities, including review of drawings, specifications, test plans, and commissioning procedures.\nEnsure strict compliance with safety policies, company HSE programs, utility standards, codes (NEC, NESC), and applicable regulatory requirements.\nCoordinate site activities, manage construction sequencing, resource allocation, and daily progress to minimize delays and mitigate risks.\nServe as primary client and stakeholder contact; prepare and present regular project updates, status reports, and risk assessments to internal leadership and customers.\nImplement and maintain quality control processes, inspection regimes, and punch-list management to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.\nLead commissioning, energization, and turnover activities, coordinating testing, documentation, and training for operations teams.\nMentor and supervise project engineers, construction supervisors, and field personnel; promote continuous improvement and best practices across project teams.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.\nMinimum 7 years of experience in electrical construction with at least 5 years in project management roles; demonstrable experience managing substation construction projects required.\nProven expertise in substation project management, including design review, construction methods, protection & control considerations, and commissioning.\nProject Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.\nStrong knowledge of electrical codes, industry standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE), utility practices, and regulatory permitting processes.\nExperience with project controls tools and software (Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, or equivalent) and proficiency with construction cost estimating and scheduling.\nTrack record of managing project budgets, contracts, and commercial aspects including change management and claims avoidance.\nExcellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse teams.\nSafety-focused with relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour); demonstrated ability to enforce rigorous HSE standards on site.\nWillingness to travel to project sites frequently and a valid drivers license.
