SUMTER SCHOOL DISTRICTJob Title: Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball CoachLocation: Sumter High SchoolPosition SummarySumter High School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Head Girls Basketball Coach to lead and develop a competitive program that emphasizes academic success, character development, and athletic excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of the girls basketball program (varsity and sub-varsity).Plan and conduct practices, implement game strategies, and support year-round development.Monitor academic progress and ensure eligibility compliance.Maintain compliance with district and South Carolina High School League regulations.Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and administration.Supervise student-athletes at all events and coordinate team travel.QualificationsPrevious basketball coaching experience preferred.Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and program development.Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Commitment to student-athlete academic and character development.Willingness to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to transport student-athletes as needed.Ability to meet district and state certification requirements.Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, resume, and references according to district guidelines.Sumter School District is an equal opportunity employer.
