This role offers the opportunity to provide deeply meaningful, patient- and family-centered care to children and adolescents facing cancer, complex hematologic disorders such as sickle cell disease, and other life-limiting illnesses. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across pediatric oncology, hematology, psychosocial support, integrative medicine, and supportive care services to ensure patients and families receive comprehensive support throughout every stage of their healthcare journey. This position is ideal for pediatricians with a strong interest in symptom management, pain management, quality of life care, and end-of-life care for pediatric hematology/oncology patients, as well as physicians formally trained in pediatric palliative care. At Roswell Park, palliative care is deeply integrated into our mission of compassionate, multidisciplinary cancer care — supporting not only patients, but also the families and caregivers who walk alongside them.What You'll DoDeliver high-quality pediatric palliative care services across inpatient and outpatient settingsProvide comprehensive symptom management, pain management, and supportive care for children and adolescents with cancer and complex hematologic conditionsSupport patients with serious illness through individualized, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care planningAssist with advance care planning and goals-of-care discussions with patients and familiesConduct family meetings focused on treatment options, quality of life, symptom management, and supportive decision-makingCollaborate closely with pediatric hematologists, oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, child life specialists, integrative medicine practitioners, and supportive care teamsParticipate in multidisciplinary care planning to support the emotional, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and familiesFoster continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and supportive care environmentsSupport a compassionate, family-centered approach to serious illness careContribute to educational initiatives involving trainees, students, residents, fellows, and interdisciplinary team membersSupport the continued growth and development of pediatric palliative care services within the institutionParticipate in quality improvement and patient-centered care initiativesFoster a culture aligned with High Reliability Organization principles emphasizing compassion, communication, safety, and teamworkQualificationsRequired Education and Experience:MD, DO, or equivalent degree with training in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Palliative Care, or a related specialtyLicense or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New YorkPossession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in PediatricsPrior full-time experience in the field of PediatricsStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients and families through complex medical experiencesCommitment to holistic, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care for patients and familiesPreferred Qualifications:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degreeBoard certification or eligibility in PediatricsValid medical license to practice in New YorkExperience in pediatric palliative careStrong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to careAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environmentEqual Employment Opportunity StatementRoswell Park Cancer Institute Corporation (RPCIC) and Health Research Inc.
