Requirements for CDL License below.\r\nLCS CDL Licensing Requirements\r\nDriving Record\r\nAn individual must certify at the time of application that they do not hold more than one driver license and that their license is not suspended, disqualified or revoked.\r\nSome convictions will make a driver ineligible to operate a school bus.\r\nNo more than one conviction for a moving violation within the past 12 months. No more than three convictions for moving violations within the past 5 years. For licensing purposes, Prayer for Judgment Continued (PJC) is considered a conviction. No conviction of Driving While Impaired (DWI) within the past five years. No more than one conviction of DWI ever. No instances of driver license suspension or revocation for moving violations within the past five years. Applicants that have been in NC less than five years, a copy of driving record from previous state is required. No convictions deemed disqualifying by federal commercial driver license (CDL) requirements. At least 21 years of age with at least 6 months of driving experience as a licensed operator of a motor vehicle\r\n*Medical & Physical\r\nSchool bus drivers must meet federal qualifications to be certified as being physically and mentally competent to operate a school bus. If questions arise about a driver's physical condition, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles may require the driver to submit a completed medical report (provided by the NCDMV Driver License Section), before or after certification. Some pre-existing conditions are prohibited, and some are allowed. Sometimes a condition may require a CDL physical every 12 months, such as high blood pressure controlled by medication. The physician can answer your questions.\r\nDrug Testing\r\nYou must pass a drug screen. Numerous prescription medications are prohibited or conditionally allowed. Most of the unapproved substances are opiates or mind altering drugs or stimulants. Please consult the Federal list or consult the doctor to ask.\r\nTraining & Testing\r\nSchool bus drivers must:\r\nSuccessfully complete the required three-day school bus driver training class\r\nPass up to four different knowledge tests with a score of 80 percent or better on each test\r\nSuccessfully complete the required behind-the-wheel training with a driver education program specialist\r\nPass a skills test\r\nThe school and the State of NC provide the classroom driving and training.\r\nFees: The School will pay all licensing fees\r\nRestrictions\r\nUnder North Carolina law, the N.C.
