{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"e95ff309f9d8ccc8b0831d56","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/e95ff309f9d8ccc8b0831d56","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/e95ff309f9d8ccc8b0831d56","title":"Hardware Design Engineer","description":"Location: Milpitas, CA 95035\nDuration: 10-12 months Contract\nDuties:\nThe FPD Hardware team is seeking a hands-on Contract Hardware Design Engineer to support the development and qualification of HBF Gen1 platform and product.\nThis role will focus on hardware component qualification, board-level bring-up, design validation, debugging, and schematic support activities.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong experience with board-level hardware development, power architecture, component validation, and laboratory debugging.\nKey Responsibilities:\nHardware Component Qualification\nOwn and execute qualification of hardware components including:\nPower management devices (PMICs, DC-DC converters, LDOs)\nTemperature sensors\nOscillators and crystals\nEEPROMs and other supporting components\nDevelop qualification plans, test procedures, and validation reports.\nPerform electrical characterization, reliability assessment, and design validation testing.\nWork with suppliers to resolve technical issues and review component documentation.\nHardware Bring-Up & Debug:\nSupport first-board bring-up activities for Gaia development platforms.\nDebug board-level issues related to power, clocks, interfaces, and signal integrity.\nPerform measurements using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power analyzers.\nRoot-cause hardware failures and drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams.\nHardware Design Support:\nAssist with schematic capture, design reviews, and BOM maintenance.\nSupport design updates, ECO implementation, and component substitutions.\nConduct schematic checks for power sequencing, sensor integration, and support circuitry.\nCollaborate with layout, SI/PI, mechanical, and validation teams during product development.\nValidation & Documentation:\nDevelop and execute validation plans for new hardware designs.\nDocument qualification results, bring-up findings, and design recommendations.\nMaintain engineering records and support design reviews.\nGenerate clear technical reports for internal stakeholders.\nCross-Functional Collaboration:\nWork closely with Hardware Design, Validation, Firmware, ASIC, SIPI, Mechanical, and Component Engineering teams.\nParticipate in design reviews, technical discussions, and issue-tracking activities.\nSupport prototype build activities, lab testing, and qualification execution.\nSkills:\nStrong understanding of:\nPower supplies and PMICs\nTemperature monitoring circuits\nCrystal/oscillator implementation\nAnalog and digital circuit design\nExperience with board bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis.\nAbility to read and modify hardware schematics.\nFamiliarity with common interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, SMBus, and GPIO.\nStrong lab skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power equipment.\nEducation:\nBS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.\n3+ years of experience in hardware design, validation, or board-level development.\nTA01\nPay: $40.00 -
