(DSA) is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of enterprise systems in a secure Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role reports to the Technical Architect and works closely with Infrastructure, Network, Quality Assurance, Development, and Cyber Security teams to translate customer requirements into reliable, secure, and scalable technical solutions. The Systems Engineer will collaborate with senior technical staff to architect, implement, and maintain enterprise services, optimize system performance, and modernize environments through standardization, automation, and documentation. This position is hands‑on and mission‑focused, involving system administration, troubleshooting, and integration of new technologies to support evolving operational and enterprise objectives. The role is primarily aligned with standard business hours, with a flexible schedule and defined core working hours. The position is based in Frederick, MD and is eligible for up to two days of telework per week, contingent on customer requirements, project needs, and security constraints.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, implement, and deploy system and infrastructure solutions that meet customer and mission requirements.\n\nCollaborate across infrastructure, networking, development, QA, and cyber security teams to support system integration and issue resolution.\n\nPerform hands‑on system administration, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis in a secure enterprise environment.\n\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures, to support continuity, audits, and accreditation activities.\n\nParticipate in change control, configuration management, and incident response processes while maintaining high standards of operational discipline and communication.\n\nSupport continuous improvement efforts through automation, standardization, and adoption of best practices.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nExperience with Microsoft Copilot and/or an approved equivalent AI solution.\n\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (experience may be substituted).\n\nDoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain Security+ within 60 days of employment.\n\n3–5 years of professional experience in systems engineering, system administration, infrastructure engineering, or software development.\n\nStrong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills in complex environments.\n\nWorking knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting.\n\nFamiliarity with Linux systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred).\n\nBasic understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).\n\nExposure to scripting or automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible).\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on documentation.\n\nClearance Required\n\nActive Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nRHCSA or RHCE certification.\n\nExperience with automation or Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform).\n\nExposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).\n\nFamiliarity with DISA STIGs and DoD security standards.\n\nPrior experience supporting DoD or federal customers.\n\nEqual Opportunity Statement\nDSA is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
