Sound like you?\n\nThis is a Senior Database Administrator position largely responsible for providing operational database services to Upland Software in a production role. The immediate responsibility of this role is to assist the current Cloud Operations team with the migration of MySQL 5.6 to 8.0.43, as well as owning database infrastructure design, ensuring optimal performance, availability and reliability. You will also be working with Development to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems Additional daily tasks such as owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, and responding to database related alerts and escalations.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities:\n\nThis position requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established time frames. As a Sr. Database Administrator, you will be responsible for all aspects of application database platforms including infrastructure, database design, data flow and overall performance.\n\nRequired Personal Traits\n\nAbility to apply creative problem solving and manage through ambiguity.\nWillingness to take ownership of problems and seek solutions to meet customer needs\nHighly collaborative team player.\nAbility to work under remote supervision and with a minimum of direct oversight.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills directed to technical and non-technical team members.\nAn individual who is keen to keep on top of emerging technologies.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nManage 19+ MySQL instances across 5 AWS regions, currently split between RDS and EC2 instances.\nAssist with in-flight project to upgrade MySQL 5.6 to 8.0.43.\nOversee DocumentDB and DynamoDB clusters for high availability and scalability\nImplement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies\nEnsure PCI DSS compliance and secure encryption of data at rest and in transit\nPartner with Development and CloudOps teams to deliver resilient, high-performance database solutions\nMaintain and optimize Amazon RDS (MySQL 8.0.x), DocumentDB, and DynamoDB environments\nMonitor and tune database performance, capacity, and replication\nManage cross-region read replicas, multi-AZ deployments, and failover procedures\nImplement and verify automated backup and recovery systems\nMonitor with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Alert Logic, and SNS notifications\nConduct DR (Disaster Recovery) testing and maintain failover documentation\nIdentify cost optimization opportunities for storage, backups, and data transfer\nCoordinate database alerting, escalation, and response across global teams\n\nRequirements:\n\n7+ years pf MySQL database administration experience, supporting a production environment\n5+ years AWS cloud database management (RDS, DocumentDB, DynamoDB)\n5+ years of experience working in Amazon Web Services Production environment, with multi-region, high-availability database architectures\nStrong experience in Windows Server administration, running on AWS EC2 instances.\nExperience in previous MySQL legacy upgrades to 8.x\nBroad experience across multiple database platforms\nAbility and desire to learn new systems quickly with little supervision\nAbility and desire to automate solutions\nAbility to work with multiple teams in an effective and collaborative manner\nAbility to relate complex technical problems to non-technical business stakeholders.\nExcellent communication and documentation skills\nKnowledge of PCI DSS compliance requirements would be beneficial\nScripting skills in PowerShell, bash, and Python\nMonitoring expertise with CloudWatch, SNS, and third-party tools\n\nUpland Software (Nasdaq: UPLD) is the intelligence layer that unifies and contextualizes enterprise knowledge, content, and data, turning isolated information into actionable outcomes for every human and agent.
