Project Manager–Pharmaceutical Industry
Job Description:A Pharmaceutical Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of drugdevelopment or manufacturing projects within a highly regulated environment. Theycoordinate cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with industry standards, and driveprojects to completion on time and within budget.Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & ExecutionDevelop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.Define the project scope, objectives, and deliverables to align with regulatory and business goals.Monitor progress and adjust plans proactively to address risks or delays.2. Cross-Functional LeadershipLead and coordinate teams across R&D, clinical operations, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, manufacturing, and supply chain.Facilitate communication between internal teams, external partners, and senior leadership.Organize and lead project meetings, ensuring clear documentation and follow-up.3. Regulatory & Compliance OversightEnsure all project activities comply with GxP, FDA, EMA, and other global regulatory requirements.Support preparation of regulatory submissions (IND, IMPD, IB, NDA, ANDA, etc.).Maintain accurate project documentation for audits and inspections.4. Risk & Issue ManagementIdentify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.Resolve issues that impact timelines, resources, or quality.Escalate critical risks to leadership with recommended solutions.5. Budget & Resource ManagementTrack project costs and ensure alignment with approved budgets.Coordinate resource allocation across teams and external vendors.Manage contracts and relationships with CROs, CMOs, and other partners.6. Reporting & Stakeholder CommunicationProvide regular project updates to leadership and stakeholders.Prepare dashboards, progress reports, and performance metrics.Ensure transparency and alignment across all project phases.Qualifications:1. EducationBachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering, Chemistry or related field.Master’s degree is often preferred. 2. ExperienceProject management experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or biotech (preferred).Experience with clinical trials, drug development, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is highly valued. 3. SkillsStrong understanding of regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, ICH).Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.).Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. 4.
