Job SummaryThe Machine Shop Helper supports daily machine shop operations by assisting machinists, preparing materials, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and performing basic shop tasks. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates interested in developing skills in machining and manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist machinists with setup, operation, and teardown of machining equipmentLoad and unload raw materials and finished partsDeburr, clean, and inspect parts using basic measuring toolsMaintain cleanliness and organization of the machine shopPerform basic material handling, tagging, and inventory supportOperate hand tools, grinders, saws, and other shop equipment as trainedAssist in Data Collection, Inventory Count & Tagging, and Order DistributionFollow all safety procedures, including PPE requirementsSupport preventive maintenance activities as directedPerform other duties as assigned by shop leadershipRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferredAbility to read basic work instructions and safety guidelinesMechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining processesAbility to follow instructions and work safely as part of a teamDependable attendance and strong work ethicMust be able to operator a forklift and lifting devicesMust be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the jobMust have the ability to manage a range of priorities, sometimes under pressurPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with hand tools and shop equipment such as Saws, and Manual MachinesBasic understanding of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)Vocational or technical training in manufacturing or machiningPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistanceAbility to work in a shop environment with noise, grease, and metal materialsManual dexterity and hand-eye coordinationWork Environment
