This position involves performing basic landscaping tasks under supervision, supporting the safe operation of commercial-grade landscaping equipment, and assisting with the maintenance of plant materials and other landscape features.\r\nDuties and Responsibilities:\r\nCut turf using various-sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower\r\nPrune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit, or to remove damaged branches\r\nPlant and maintain flower beds\r\nOperate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objects\r\nPick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing.\r\nMulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing\r\nPerform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe\r\nPerform basic, preventative maintenance to extend the life of equipment\r\nProperly remove trash, dead plants, and suckers from the landscape\r\nMaintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with guests and customers\r\nReport unsafe conditions to the Crew Leader as appropriate\r\nEducation and Experience:\r\nAt least 18 years old\r\nEnthusiastic and dependable\r\nAbility to safely work with equipment like power saws and cutters\r\nCertified on level 1 equipment (backpack blower, stick edger, string trimmer, walk-behind mower)\r\nFamiliar with basic horticultural maintenance operations/practices\r\nPhysical Demands/Requirements:\r\nAbility to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)\r\nAbility to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)\r\nBe at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)\r\nPossess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.\r\nAble to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).\r\nAble to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.\r\nAble to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)\r\nYou are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)\r\nLandscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver's license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.\r\nAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.\r\nAbility to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.\r\nWork Environment:\r\nAbility to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100F, temperatures below 32F, various levels of humidity)\r\nAbility to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.\r\nWork outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.\r\nAbility to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.\r\nAbility to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes.\r\nBrightView Landscapes, LLC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.\r\nThis job description is subject to change at any time.\r\nBrightView offers a suite of health, wellness, and financial benefits to full-time team members.
