This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on P&C Engineer who enjoys field work, problem-solving, leadership responsibilities, and working directly with critical power infrastructure.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs a Protection & Control Engineer II, you will be responsible for supporting and executing the testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relaying and control systems within utility substations. You'll work alongside senior engineers and field personnel while helping mentor junior engineers and technicians.\n\nThis position is ideal for engineers who prefer being in the field, solving real-world electrical protection challenges, and gaining exposure to a variety of utility projects across Florida.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nPerform protection and control relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.\nVerify relay settings and protection system performance.\nRead and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings.\nAnalyze and troubleshoot protection and control system issues.\nSupport outage, startup, commissioning, and maintenance activities.\nUtilize and promote Human Performance tools and best practices.\nLead and supervise junior engineers, technicians, or field crews on assigned tasks.\nAssist with project execution, planning, documentation, and reporting.\nComplete test records, procedures, and project paperwork accurately and on time.\nMaintain the highest standards for safety, quality, and professionalism.\nServe as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced team members.\nMinimum Qualifications\nRequired\nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred).\nMinimum of 2-3 years of Protection & Control field experience.\nDemonstrated experience working with protective relays and high-voltage substation equipment.\nStrong understanding of:\nAC and DC circuit theory\nThree-phase systems\nTransformers\nProtection schemes and relay applications\nElectrical testing methodologies\nUtility construction and commissioning practices\nAbility to read and interpret complex utility drawings and protection schematics.\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills.\nExcellent communication and teamwork abilities.\nAbility to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions.\nPreferred Experience\nUtility substation commissioning\nRelay testing and protection system verification\nSEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Beckwith, or similar relay platforms\nLeadership or crew supervision experience\nProject coordination and field management responsibilities\nTravel Requirements\nPlease Read Carefully\n\nThis is a traveling field position.\n\nProjects are located throughout the State of Florida, and candidates must be willing to travel wherever project work is required.
