UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.\n\nSummary\nThis Lab Technician is a key role, responsible for the day-to-day completion of work assignments related to testing concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials. The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued.\n\nQualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.\n\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nRequired to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation\nLifting and/or moving up to thirty-five pounds regularly is expected, and up to seventy-five lbs. on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation\nThe testing process for the various construction materials (i.e., soils, concrete, asphalt, etc.) is repetitive in nature several times per hour\nThe technician’s primary duty is to test soil densities and concrete samples (air, temperature, mix design, etc.), as well as testing other construction materials. Testing these samples requires extensive manual lifting and handling\nWeights in the zero to seventy-five pounds range are lifted frequently (From thirty-three percent up to sixty-six percent of the task period) with a frequency range of ten to thirty-five repetitions per hour, with or without reasonable accommodation\nWeights in the range of thirty-five to seventy-five plus pounds (concrete cylinders and soils) are lifted frequently (From fifteen percent to thirty percent of the task period) with a range of five to fifteen repetitions per hour, with or without reasonable accommodation\nConstruction materials are manually lifted and carried distances on average ranging from a few feet to seventy-five feet, but may occasionally exceed seventy-five ft in walking distance and are unloaded manually at our lab and carried inside for testing, with or without reasonable accommodation\nOn average the workdays range from eight to twelve hours\nThis job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions\nJob site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.\nThis job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nEnsure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle\nEnsure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures\nConducts testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials in accordance with applicable testing standards/methods (ASTM, AASHTO, FM, Army Corp of Engineers, DOT, etc.)\nReport data in a complete, timely, and understandable fashion\nComplete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy\nTurn in paperwork related to the work order every day\nAttend all technician meetings\nRegular attendance is required\nMust be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs. Overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs\nFollow all company safety procedures and policies\nOther duties may be assigned\nRequired Qualifications:\nValid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)\nAbility to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)\nAbility to earn required testing certifications\nAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients\nComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports\nMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals\nReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form\nPreferred Qualifications:\nLBR Certification for Soils Work\nConcrete Cylinder Testing Technician Certification for Concrete Work\nAsphalt Plant Technician Certification for Asphalt Work\nWho We Are:\nUES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
