Based in Hawai'i, the firm is the exclusive state member of the global Employment Law Alliance (ELA), connecting clients to a network of labor and employment attorneys worldwide.Role DescriptionES&A is looking for an experienced legal assistant to assist with civil litigation, internal investigation and/or transactional work in labor and employment law (employer-side), corporate, real property, and emerging technologies. Work will include:Proofreading, formatting, and processing legal documents, including court and government filings, and correspondence with clients and outside parties;Maintaining calendars and computerized client files, including by opening and closing matter files, scheduling court and other deadlines, and organizing pleadings and other documents;Receiving and directing general telephone calls and emails;Coordinating meetings internally and with outside parties;Retrieving and posting mail, coordinating messenger and copying services; andOccasionally assisting timekeepers in booking travel arrangements.Minimum Qualifications1. US Citizen or Lawfully Authorized to Work in the US2. Education & Experience 5 years of professional experience as an executive assistant or secretary in any fieldMinimum of 2 years in the legal field. Experience in drafting, proofing and filing legal documents is required.3. Other Skills/ Technical KnowledgeStrong English skills and ability to communicate professionally;Proficient in basic business and legal computer systems, including:Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat required (calendaring, word processing, formatting, document security);Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience preferred;Teleconference and videoconference use required (Microsoft Teams and Zoom setup preferred);Document and case management systems, ProLaw preferred;Familiarity with telephone and photocopiers;Professionalism and interpersonal skills including: problem solving, teamwork and collaboration, critical thinking, attention to detail, managing and measuring work, and ability to react productively to rapid change and time pressures.Benefits Employees are provided all benefits in accordance with law and ES&A policy, including:Paid Time Off (PTO) – Up to 20 work daysHolidays – 14 days a yearLeave for Temporary Disability, Victim’s, Military Service, Bereavement, Personal Reasons – Available per ES&A policiesFlexible scheduling – Remote work, hybrid work and/or alternative business hours may be considered.Medical and Dental (including Prescription Drug and Vision) – Available to eligible employees.
