In this role, you will play a critical part in developing embedded software solutions for our Avionics and Electric Propulsion hardware. You will work in close collaboration with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers to deliver robust, high-performance software for cutting-edge aerospace applications.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDesign, develop, integrate, and test embedded software in C/C++ for high voltage power systems\nCollaborate closely with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers to ensure seamless hardware/software integration\nDrive work across all phases of the software development lifecycle — from requirements and architecture through implementation, code review, verification, and deployment\nDevelop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded hardware platforms\nSupport hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification activities\nContribute to software architecture, design reviews, and documentation\nDevelop and execute software verification and validation plans, including unit, integration, and automated regression tests\nEnsure software development adheres to applicable standards\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired:\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field\n5+ years of experience in embedded software development\nProficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems\nExperience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)\nStrong understanding of hardware/software interfaces, including SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and similar protocols\nExperience working with FPGA interfaces and register-level hardware integration\nStrong debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers\nFamiliarity with software development lifecycle and version control systems (e.g., Git)\nU.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required\n\nAdditional Preferred Qualifications:\n\nMaster’s degree in a relevant field.\nAerospace or safety-critical system development experience.\nExperience with communications protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).\nFirmware development for custom hardware platforms.\nExperience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation.\nFamiliarity with Agile, DevOps and continuous integration practices.\n\nCompensation & Benefits\n\nBlue Origin offers a competitive salary, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and much more.\n\nBlue Origin is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
