Our rich diversity of people and ideas makes us a stronger, more innovative organization.The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing field operations associated with gas distribution construction projects, including main installation, service replacements, system upgrades, and emergency response work. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT and PHMSA requirements.The Construction Supervisor manages daily field activities, monitors productivity, coordinates crews and subcontractors, and ensures quality installation and restoration of gas distribution infrastructure.Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate gas distribution construction activities, including: Mainline installation (plastic & steel)Service installations and replacementsLeak investigations and emergency repairsTie-ins, purging, and pressure testingEnsure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA requirements, and gas utility regulations, including DOT/PHMSA standards.Conduct jobsite safety briefings, audits, and incident investigations; reinforce a strong safety culture among crews.Monitor and control job costs, labor productivity, and equipment utilization; review daily reports and progress tracking systems.Coordinate with utility clients, inspectors, municipalities, and permitting agencies to ensure work compliance and timely completion.Oversee traffic control, excavation, restoration, and right-of-way management.Manage and support union and non-union crews, subcontractors, and field personnel.Ensure proper documentation of: As-builtsPressure testsInspection logsMaterial usage and traceabilityAssist with scheduling, resource planning, and coordination of tools, equipment, and fleet.Promote continuous improvement in construction practices, safety performance, and operational efficiency.Qualifications RequiredStrong knowledge of gas distribution construction methods and practicesExperience with: Underground utility constructionExcavation safety and trenching standardsPipeline installation and maintenanceUnderstanding of DOT/PHMSA regulations and gas utility compliance standardsProven ability to manage field crews, subcontractors, and multiple job sitesExperience with cost tracking, scheduling, and construction reporting systemsProficiency with MS Office and construction/project management softwareStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsPreferredExperience working in live gas environmentsKnowledge of plastic fusion, steel welding, and pipeline integrity practicesFamiliarity with regional gas utility standards and specificationsMinimum Educational Background:BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent work experienceMinimum Years of Relevant Experience:2–5+ years of experience in gas distribution or utility construction, with increasing responsibility in field supervisionH&M Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities
