Job Summary
The Adult Wood Program Lead Instructor leads hands-on wood product manufacturing training for adults with barriers to employment while fostering spiritual growth through devotions and fellowship. This role integrates technical instruction, participant recruitment, church engagement, and workforce partnerships to prepare participants for meaningful, sustainable careers.
Key Responsibilities
Program Instruction & Training
Provide hands-on instruction in wood product manufacturing, including tools, machinery, processes, and basic manufacturing technology.
Provide industry-aligned, OSHA-compliant safety training and enforce shop safety protocols.
Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning styles, skill levels, and workforce readiness needs.
Assess participant progress and provide feedback to support skill development and confidence.
Participant Recruitment & Engagement
Recruit, interview, and select program participants aligned with program goals.
Build supportive, trusting relationships with individuals facing employment barriers.
Maintain clear expectations for attendance, behavior, and performance while providing mentorship and encouragement.
Faith-Based Leadership & Church Engagement
Lead devotions, fellowship, and faith-based discussions as part of the program structure.
Engage local churches for referrals, volunteer involvement, mentorship, or other partnerships.
Represent the program in church settings and faith-based community events as needed.
Workforce, Employer & Community Partnership Collaboration
Collaborate with the Employment Coach to support employer engagement, job readiness, and job placement.
Collaborate with local employers to align training with workforce needs.
Prepare participants for workplace success by reinforcing professionalism, expectations, and workplace culture.
Provide daily guidance and coordination of assistant instructors and volunteers.
Coordinate with community partners to deliver soft skills training and wraparound support addressing barriers to employment.
Program Administration & Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate records related to attendance, training progress, safety compliance, and outcomes.
Contribute to curriculum review, continuous improvement, reporting, and grant documentation.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in wood product manufacturing, woodworking, or related manufacturing fields.
Experience operating and teaching the safe use of woodworking machinery and tools.
Passion for teaching and mentoring individuals with barriers to employment.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to the organization’s faith-based mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in workforce development, adult education, or vocational training.
Experience working with justice-involved individuals, individuals in recovery, or unhoused populations.
Knowledge of OSHA standards and manufacturing safety training.
Established relationships with local manufacturers, employers, or workforce partners.
Experience recruiting participants or conducting interviews.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting materials as needed.
Ability to demonstrate and supervise the use of tools and machinery safely.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
