You will directly manage staff and contractors, drive capital infrastructure projects, and serve as a key cross-functional partner to senior leadership all within a defense industry environment where precision, compliance, and mission readiness matter.\r\nFrom day one, we will count on you to lead a team that helps GDMS lead the world.\r\nWhat You'll Do Operational Leadership\r\nProvide departmental guidance by prioritizing facilities initiatives in alignment with the leadership team's strategic direction\r\nReview, develop, and initiate department policies and standard operating procedures\r\nSelect, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient and effective facilities operations\r\nDevelop, prepare, and manage department budgets, forecasts, and risk management analyses\r\nTeam & Contractor Management\r\nDirectly manage and conduct performance evaluations for facilities staff; currently overseeing 2 direct reports with active efforts underway to identify and justify additional headcount to match operational needs\r\nOversee the performance and accountability of third-party contractors supporting all assigned sites\r\nLead and mentor a team committed to operational excellence in a defense-focused environment\r\nCapital Projects & Infrastructure\r\nOwn and manage capital projects focused on infrastructure equipment replacement and lifecycle planning\r\nPartner with Project Managers on capital improvement projects involving space planning and construction\r\nDevelop and present risk management analyses to leadership and executive stakeholders\r\nBuilding Systems Oversight\r\nMaintain expert-level oversight of core building systems including: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression; Building Management Systems (BMS); Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) specifically FM Interact\r\nCompliance & Regulatory\r\nEnsure adherence to ADA accessibility requirements, local building codes, and permit processes\r\nMaintain compliance with fire and life safety codes across all sites\r\nCollaborate with the Security team on applicable Defense Industry standards (note: direct responsibility for defense compliance standards resides with the Security organization)\r\nEmergency Preparedness & Business Continuity\r\nLead Business Continuity Planning (BCP) efforts for facilities operations\r\nDevelop and execute emergency response plans across all sites\r\nApply crisis management experience and incident command familiarity to ensure site safety and resilience\r\nWhat You'll Experience Technologies that aren't just top-notch they're often classified\r\nA team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what's next\r\nOpportunities to gain new knowledge as it's discovered\r\nWhat You Bring to the Table Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations\r\nStrong technical knowledge of facilities operations, building systems, equipment functions, and requirements, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, BMS, and IWMS platforms\r\nDemonstrated experience managing both direct staff and contracted service providers\r\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and energy management systems\r\nSolid understanding of ADA requirements, local building codes, fire and life safety regulations\r\nExperience with Business Continuity Planning, emergency response plan development, and crisis management\r\nAbility to travel 10-20% across assigned sites\r\nWhat Sets You Apart Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure with a calm, solutions-oriented approach\r\nStrong vendor negotiation skills and a track record of effective contractor management\r\nExcellent cross-functional communication skills with demonstrated experience presenting to executive stakeholders and senior leadership\r\nCreative thinking with the ability to multi-task across a diverse, geographically dispersed portfolio\r\nCommitment to ongoing professional development\r\nTeam player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success\r\nIdentifies opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies for continuous improvement and innovation\r\nSalary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
