This position focuses on establishing processes and process control for the SMT lines and related post SMT operations along with providing technical support to equipment operation, operators, and programmers. In addition, this position will collect data and make decisions based on established production metrics.\n\nJob Title: SMT Process Engineer\n\nDepartment: Operations\n\nReports to: Manufacturing Engineering Director\n\nSchedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, 1st Shift. Off-Shifts periodically as needed\n\nFacility location: Chester, CT\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\n\nEstablishes processes and process control for SMT lines and related production areas\n\nEstablishes process monitoring to ensure processes remain in control\n\nWorks in a cross-functional team to document and improve existing processes\n\nWorks in a cross-functional team to support Continuous Improvement aimed at driving Operational Excellence\n\nWorks with machine vendors for technical support as required to establish or improve production processes\n\nMay periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of other employees\n\nUses technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot issues on the Production floor, including SMT, THT and Selective Solder issues\n\nRecommend changes and/or upgrades to equipment, work methods, and the production process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources\n\nIdentifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve\n\nWorks with Quality to monitor scrap, rework and other quality metrics and uses this data to drive process improvements\n\nAdvises Manufacturing Engineering teams on floor plan designs and layouts to ensure infrastructure improvements support existing production processes and process improvements\n\nScope\n\nDelivers results in accordance with goals and expectations\n\nTakes ownership and responsibility for results\n\nOpenly communicates about commitments\n\nWorks in a professional manner\n\nShares information readily with team and larger department\n\nWorks well in a Team environment\n\nEducation and Experience\n\n8+ years of experience in the Electronic Production Environment preferred\n\nExperience manufacturing and inspecting Printed Circuit Boards and their assemblies\n\nOperation and programming experience with SMT and THT production equipment\n\nExperience overseeing maintenance of SMT and THT production equipment\n\nStrong mechanical aptitude\n\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles\n\nAssociate degree or higher a plus\n\nPhysical demands and abilities\n\nAble to stand for long periods at a time\n\nAble to lift 35 lbs\n\nAble to operate basic hand tools (screwdriver, wrench, pliers, electric drill, etc)\n\nAll Employees Shall\nComply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements\nReport to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards\nAttend scheduled EH&S training program\nActively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans\nRecommend improved EH&S practices\n\nMust be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties.
