As our Network Engineer, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership and support in IT planning, solution specification/design, implementation, and target architecture development.\r\nJoin our team and support the 844th Communications Group at three locations: Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB), Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and the Pentagon. You will be tasked with supporting the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and Headquarters Air Force (HAF) customers on NIPRNet and SIPRNet domains.\r\nTo be considered for this position, you must have knowledge of information technology and commercial solutions, as well as experience designing and developing technical solutions. We are looking for a professional with excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, and experience serving as an advisor to Chief Architect and other senior IT managers.\r\nThe Mission The Project Network Engineer will be responsible for researching, building, designing, diagraming end to end network solutions related to assigned projects. Duties include providing specifications for network architecture design, evaluate and perform assessments of current infrastructure to ensure solution meets customer requirements, conduct proof of concepts and/or recommend hardware/software purchases in support of new technologies on ways to improve the environment.\r\nNetwork Project Engineer primary responsibilities: Conduct Site Survey's when needed.\r\nServe as the Lead Network Engineer on assigned projects.\r\nDevelop detailed network designs and architectures that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards.\r\nWork closely with system engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.\r\nStay updated on DoD policies and best practices related to network security and design.\r\nMaintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.\r\nOversee the installation and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, taclanes and firewalls.\r\nDesign full scale network solutions to include but not limited to switches, routers, taclanes, F5 Load Balancers, IP Management, VPNs, DHCP, Firewalls etc.\r\nUtilize Visio to create, maintain and/or modify diagrams in support of assigned projects i.e., block, wiring, workflow, database, application diagrams etc.\r\nEnsure compliance with applicable network security protocols, including 802.1x, DOD STIGs, SRGs and other accreditation standards.\r\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network infrastructure with broader IT and cybersecurity systems.\r\nConduct thorough testing of network systems to ensure functionality, performance, and security compliance.\r\nWork closely with system engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.\r\nMaintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.\r\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during installation and testing phases.\r\nCollaborate with procurement teams to identify and source network hardware and software that meet project specifications.\r\nBasic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 6+ years of experience additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.\r\nCurrently possess an Active DoD Secret security clearance.\r\nActive CompTIA Security + or CCNP Security certification (8140 Compliance).\r\nActive CCNA Certification (8140 Compliance).\r\nStrong background in network architecture design, including developing end-to-end infrastructure solutions.\r\nExperience in evaluating and recommending new networking technologies and tools.\r\nExperience documenting network architectures, diagrams, procedures, and operational baselines.\r\nStrong understanding of cybersecurity practices and risk management, especially at OSI Layers 1-3.\r\nProven track record of developing technical solutions that require collaboration and deep analysis.\r\nAbility to work independently on high-impact projects or processes with minimal supervision.\r\nExperience with network design and implementation in federal, DoD, or other regulated environments.\r\nFamiliarity with network accreditation processes (e.g., RMF, STIGs, DoD 8500 series compliance).\r\nKnowledge of COOP/DR (Continuity of Operations/Disaster Recovery) networking considerations.\r\nFamiliarity with SDN (Software Defined Networking).\r\nExperienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)\r\nKnowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR.\r\nPreferred Qualifications: Strong knowledge of protocols, security standards, and design principles for OSI 1-4.\r\nExperience with Cisco technologies such as Cisco Catalyst Center (FKA DNAC) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)\r\nExperience evaluating and recommending new network technologies to improve system capabilities\r\nProficient in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.\r\nSolid understanding and operational experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols.\r\nExperience managing networking hardware including routers, switches, and load balancers.\r\nPractical experience in network administration and network security best practices.\r\nFamiliarity with RSA Authentication\r\nFamiliarity with load balancer setup and management to optimize traffic distribution.\r\nExperience in network monitoring, testing, and performance optimization.\r\nStrong written and verbal communication skills;
