Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs c.16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.\n\nJob Description\n\nJob Purpose:\nProvides engineering expertise in assigned areas to ensure that all products are designed, procured, and built in accordance with customer and company quality requirements for sales growth and profitability.\nResponsibilities:\nDesigns & develop new products and redesigns existing products to meet customer needs and specifications.\nPerform / Create / Update product design guidelines, customer standards, and / or analytical reports as assigned.\nProvide technical support to organizational stakeholders (Production, Quality, Marketing and Sales) and external customers.\nParticipate in the development of product and technology roadmaps, in support of cross-functional stakeholders.\nPrepare technical proposals, and presentations as required to support customers, sales representatives and lead design reviews.\nConduct patent assessment and prepare technical documents for filing new patent.\nInvestigates and suggests solutions to the Engineering Manager or Director with regard to product related problems.\nInterface with suppliers to evaluate component specification, new manufacturing techniques, and/or new materials.\nCompliance and participation in all EHS programs, policies, procedures and training requirements.\nParticipate and contribute to team training, development, mentoring and audits.\nProvide mentorship and support to junior-level technologists.\nDemonstrate behaviors consistent with company policies.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\n\nTechnical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nBachelor of Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent.\nAt least 2-4 years of post-graduate experience.\nExcellent oral and written communication skills in English. (An interview in English will be performed).\nExperience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent & understanding GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards.\nKnowledge of engineering mechanics, material properties, physics and manufacturing methods.\nKnowledge of electrical theories especially in signal transmission, characterization and signal integrity.\nFamiliar with the effects of mechanical component design on its electrical functions/performance.\nExperience with Six Sigma or equivalent tools and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) preferred.\nExperience on Finite Element Analysis (structural, thermal & fluid) preferred.\nExperience on electromagnetic (EM) and RF simulations preferred.\nExperience on IC test socket or electrical connector designs is a plus.\nPatent experience is a plus.\nAttention to detail/self-directed and able to work under normal supervision.\nAbility to analyze complex problems using data-driven approach and define solutions.\nProficient with Microsoft Office products.\n\nTravel %: 0-20%\nSecurity: Please State if US Citizen or permanent Resident Required\n\nAdditional Information\n\nAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.\nWe believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish.
